Chapter 34
After a few days of waiting, the Eclipse finally approached the dull brown sphere known as Gwydion. As we got closer, Danger repositioned the spaceship, and all three of us put on our harnesses. "Hey Nora?" Danger said as he began to slow the Eclipse down so that it could land. "Can you take down the Hamilton poster?"
"Do I have to?" I asked.
"Yes," Danger said. "I doubt that the Penrhyn Zone Navy wants a poster from an Earthling musical in their spaceship."
"Fine," I said. I took off my harness, drifted over to the poster, and carefully peeled it off of the wall. A deep sadness filled my heart as I looked at the empty wall. The Eclipse looked so lifeless without our decorations, and it was just another reminder that I would be leaving the spaceship soon, along with the friends that I had made out in space.
I put the Hamilton poster in my bag and returned to my seat, and the Eclipse began to fall through Gwydion's atmosphere. I held on tightly as Danger attempted to navigate the spaceship towards the Penrhyn City Spaceport.
"Eclipse to Ground Control," Danger said into the ship's radio. "We are about to land in Penrhyn City Spaceport. Are we clear to land?"
"Ground Control to Eclipse," the ground control official said. "You are clear to land, but you are coming in at too much of an angle. Please correct your position before landing."
Danger hit several buttons on the dashboard, jerking the ship back and forth. "Danger, you're just making it worse," Blaze said.
"Do you want to fly the spaceship, Blaze?" Danger asked as he continued to fiddle with the dashboard.
"I'm not programmed to do that," Blaze said.
"Who cares what you're programmed to do?" Danger said. "I bet you could fly this ship." His hands flew away from the controls, leaving the ship in free fall.
"Ground Control to Eclipse," the ground official said. "You're still coming in at too much of an angle. At this rate, you'll miss the spaceport entirely."
"Don't worry," Danger said. "I've got this." I looked down and saw that Penrhyn City was quite close at this point. I could even spot individual buildings, and it appeared that the Eclipse was headed straight for one of them.
Danger grabbed onto the controls again, but he didn't even try to correct his position. Instead, he kept heading straight towards one of the largest skyscrapers in the Penrhyn City skyline. "Danger, what are you thinking?" I shouted.
"You'll see," Danger said. "We'll be just fine."
I looked over towards Arthur, and he looked just as scared as I was. "Danger, please tell me that you're not trying to get all of us killed," he said as we flew straight towards the skyscraper.
"I'm not," Danger said. The spaceship swerved to the side, narrowly missing the spires of the tower. However, we were still about to fall into the highway below, which would be just as disastrous as crashing into the building. Danger tried to slow the spaceship down, but it wasn't braking fast enough. "Why do all of the new spaceships have all of the good brakes?" Danger asked. "If I had stolen one of the newer ships, we wouldn't be in this situation..."
"Just do something, Danger!" Arthur shouted as he looked down at all of the cars zipping by.
"I'm trying, Arthur," Danger said. He swerved the spaceship around until it was in a horizontal position again, but by that point, we were only a few feet above the highway. Danger flew straight over the cars for a few minutes before sending the Eclipse straight upwards.
