Chapter 13
"This is all just an expensive prank," Raquel said when she saw the spaceship. "There's no way that piece of junk can fly."
"Trust me, that thing can fly faster than anything you Earthlings have even built," Danger said. He approached the ship and opened up a clear, circular window. "I would use the door, but this thing is sideways right now. I need to work on my landings when I get home."
Arthur was the first to climb into the spaceship, and I quickly followed him. The inside of the spaceship was cramped already, but it was fascinating. There were two rooms inside the ship. One of them was a makeshift living space, complete with four cots, a refrigerator, and a table with what looked like an alien board game on top of it. The other room was closer to the front of the spaceship, and its primary feature was a large dashboard covered in flashing buttons. Two chairs sat in front of the dashboard, and a second circular window revealed more of Arthur's backyard.
Arthur shoved his bags into the first room. Then, he crawled out of the spaceship and asked Danger, "When are we taking off?"
"I'm not sure," Danger said as he played with his electric blue hair. "The ship has to be vertical to take off, and I have no clue how that's going to happen."
"I don't know too much about spaceships, but they do have a lot of mass," Raquel noted. "There's no way that the four of us will be able to reposition that thing."
"There has to be a way," I said.
At that moment, a middle aged man in an orange vest strolled into Arthur's backyard. "Hello there," the man said. "I just forgot a few things here. Do you kids need anything?"
He must be one of the construction workers who's working on Arthur's roof, I realized. "Yes, but you'll probably think we're crazy," I said.
"I'm sure I've seen crazier," the construction worker said.
"I'm an alien, this is my spaceship, and we need you to help us put the ship into a vertical position so we can take off," Danger said.
"Maybe I haven't seen crazier," the construction worker said. "Are you sure you're alright, kid? If you're having drug problems, I can take you somewhere where they'll help you."
"I'm fine, and I'm not on any drugs," Danger said. "I just need a little help, and then I'll be on my way."
The construction worker shook his head. "You're all insane, but I'll help you out anyways," he said. "I'll leave and go get the crane. Just wait here."
The four of us waited for a few minutes. Raquel and I tried to remain quiet, but Arthur was practically squealing. "It's happening," he said. "It's finally happening."
"What's finally happening?" Danger asked.
"My childhood dream," Arthur said. "You don't want to know how many times that I wished to get abducted by aliens when I was little."
"Only you would dream about getting abducted by aliens, Arthur," I said.
"Also, I don't think it's abduction if you go willingly," Danger said.
"You get the point," Arthur said.
"I'm back!" the construction worker shouted as he drove into Arthur's backyard in a huge yellow crane. The four of us watched as he used the crane to pick up the Eclipse and place the ship so that it was sitting on its fins. "This is how you wanted it, right?" the construction worker asked.
"Yes, that's correct," Danger said.
"Great," the construction worker said. "I'm heading out then. I hope you like playing around in your spaceship. Have a great night."
