A few days later
"And I just wanted to say that I'm sorry. Alisha and I were just discussing a group project over lunch." Amira said over the phone. "I didn't know that you'd actually take it personally, or think we became close friends. She's nothing to me. I'm really sorry."
I half grinned. "It's okay. I forgive you. I'm sorry I overreacted. Suddenly, Trigger came as an incoming call. "Sorry Mir, can I call you back?" She made a straight face. "Trigger's calling you isn't he." "Sorry babe... I gotta take this." "Whatever."
I hung up then answered Trigger's FaceTime call. "Heyyy babyyyy." I sang, enthusiastically. "Heyyyy babygirrrrl." He replied with a toothy smile, with the same energy. "Can I come over?" I asked. "Over?... To like, my house?" He asked, a little baffled.
"Yeah, I've never been over there before. And we've been dating for almost two months now. I want to meet your family." Trigger scratched his head then looked in the other direction. "I don't think you'd want to meet them."
I furrowed my eyebrows. "Why?..." I thought for a second. "Trig, are you hiding me from your family??" "No, no, no, no, it's not that at all." He replied, quickly. "It's just that... I have a broken family."
My face softened. "Babe. You don't have to be embarrassed of your family, especially when it comes to your girlfriend. I don't care how they are. I will accept them as much as I accept you."
Trigger stared at the ground for a moment, shyly. Then he slowly looked up and smiled. "I really do love you, you know that, right?"
I was blown away from his words. But I felt so warm inside. "I love you too."

"Just to give you a heads up, my older sister is very protective of me," Trigger mentioned as we headed up to his door step. "So don't get too offended about what she says or asks you."
They lived in a small condo, on the first floor.
"It's all good. I have thick skin." "Also, my mom smokes a lot of cigarettes, so if the smell nauseates you, we can go to my room and open up a window." He said as he slipped out his house key. "Got it." I replied. "Also, my mother isn't the nicest human being on ear---"
"Baby, it's okay. I'm going to love your family!" I assured. "Don't worry." Trigger grinned, in relief. "Okay hun." He gave me peck on the lips, then stuck the key in the door and opened it.
His place obviously was not big. All I saw was a small living room on the right with a plasma screen tv, cheap tan sofas, a tiny kitchen on the left, then the bedrooms behind it.
"Mom! Where are you? I got company!" He called, proudly.
Suddenly, I heard a door open, and a thick woman with pink rollers in her hair and a pink robe on approached us.
She looked at me with a straight face, then back to Trigger. "Who's this?" "Mom, this is my girlfriend Hazel. The girl I've been telling you all about."
I made a bright, friendly smile. "Hi...Miss, it's nice to meet you." I paused because Trigger never actually told me his real full name, so I could not address her properly. I only knew him by his street name.
