Hazel's POV:
I couldn't say the note didn't creep me out a little. But I certainly did want to know who had dirt on Alisha that could help me take her down. Wait... could it possibly be a trap? What if it's one of Alisha's friends who are trying to lure me and kill me so that it would be guaranteed for Alisha not to be locked up in prison, if I were gone. What if it was Alisha herself, trying to threaten me to drop the case? Or even one of Alisha's enemies? I had no idea. But it would probably be smart if I went with somebody for my own safety.
After school, I went to the back of the building, on the courtyard, where I was directed to go. I had Jeremiah take me there, and I told him to wait in the car. I stood outside for a while, waiting for the unnamed person. My feet got tired, so I sat on the ground. It was about fifteen minutes until I heard footsteps on the sidewalk.
I turned to my left, and realized it was Diana. Maybe she was just walking by. I made a disgusted face and turned my head away.
I felt her shadow, stop in front of me, then I turned to face her. "Hello, Hazel." She had her arms crossed, with her head tilted to the side. I made a face, then slowly stood up.
"What do you want, Diana?" I cocked my head to the side, just like she did. "Oh, you do want to know how to win the case against Alisha don't you?" I made a baffled expression. "Wait... it's you? You were the one who left the note in my locker?" "I'm standing here, aren't I?" She made a teasing face.
"Yeah but... why would you want to help me prove Alisha guilty? Isn't she your best friend? And um, hello? You hate me."
Diana's face softened. "I don't hate you, Hazel. Maybe I only pretended like I did because Alisha and the girl's did." She confessed. "To be honest... I've never actually had a problem with you. The problem is Alisha. She's probably the world's most conniving bitch. She probably doesn't even fuck with me like she does with the rest of the girls. She's always so mean to me. Treats me like shit. And I cannot stand to watch her one up on somebody again like this. Especially when she clearly is guilty."
"Again?" I asked, in curiosity. Diana rolled her eyes. "Alisha never loses against anybody. She will stop at nothing to make sure she comes out of top. She cheated her way into every lead role in drama club, she knows how to manipulate people, she cheated her way to Elijah's heart... you know she was having sex with him while he was with his last girlfriend? She stole him from her. She's so sneaky I swear. Arrrgghh! I am so glad I can finally let all of this out!..."
I shook my head in astonishment. "She's disgusting..." Before I could finish my sentence, my phone buzzed. Jeremiah texted:
Everything ok over there? I smiled and was grateful that he was so protective over me.
Everything is fine baby, I'll be back in a sec. I replied, then tucked the phone away.
Diana just continued talking. "...And I'm actually kind of glad that you leaked that video of her being nasty with her stepdad." She cackled. "Expoooosed! That what that little bitch gets!" "You know it was an accident though, right?" "Accident or not, I'm happy it's out. So that everybody can see how nasty she actually is." I giggled a bit. "I think everybody already knew she was pretty nasty. I mean, she is the leader of the school famous, Hoe Squad... no offense." "None taken. I don't think I even want to be associated with those girls anymore. I'm especially sick and tired of Alisha. She needs to be put away for good."
"So what do you have to help me win this case?" I asked. Diana reached in her pocket for her phone and played a video. It was Alisha talking to me in front of my house. Then she pulled me out, and started beating me. It was the fight. But it was from a weird perspective. Like she was filming it from a far away car. "Is this... the fight? You recorded it?" "Yup. I followed her to your house." I was almost triggered by anger, until I heard an echo of what my lawyer said to me the other day.
"It's hard to defend assault cases like this unless there is some kind of video evidence..."
Suddenly, it clicked in my head, and I gushed with happiness. "Diana! This is it! This is exactly what will get me to win the trial! Aw, your awesome! Thanks!" I grabbed her into a tight squeeze, which was weird because, I have never been this intimate with any of the Hoe Squad in a while.
"No problem. I'll send you the video right now. But remember... you didn't hear any of this from me. Because if I find out, you outted me... I will find you." Her face went from serious to smiley. "Well, buh-bye!" She sang, then waved and scurried away.
That girl was indeed a little scary... And I know there was definitely something about Alisha that she was refraining from telling me. But she did help me out a lot, and I was grateful of that.
I showed the video to the judge during our second trial, and Alisha was declared guilty and sentenced to prison for five years, with three years of probation afterwards.
But as the police officers were taking her out of the court room in handcuffs she was screaming at me saying, "I will get you Hazel Lemy! You won't get away with this! Look at what you did to me! You fucking bitch! I hate you! I'm gonna kill you! When I get outta there I will find you and I'm gonna murder you! You haven't seen the last of me I will get my revenge ya hear me?!!!!"
I'm not going to lie, her threats did kind of scared me. But I decided to just brush it off, because there was no way she would still be that furious at me even five years from now. Even if she did try something when she got out, that would be violating her probation which would send her back to prison.
"But it doesn't matter." Jeremiah said to me. He grabbed me by the shoulders and grinned "Alisha is gone." I won't have to deal with her tormenting me anymore at school... "You're finally free." He grabbed me into a "mission accomplished" tight hug.
