COURT DAY

*months later*

"All arise for the judge!" A man with a brown suit called. Everybody in the court stood. "You may be seated." The judge ordered as he headed to his seat, and sat down. He was a cocoa brown skinned, heavy set man with a mustache. He didn't look like anyone to mess with. All of their family and closest friends were there in the audience. Jeremiah was sitting in the front row, next to Hazel's mother, giving Hazel a comforting, reassuring smile.

"Case number, 9748161003... The State of California vs Alisha Reynolds. Ms. Reynolds you are being charged with aggravated assault second degree... yanked Ms. Lemy out of her own house and started beating her with a baseball bat... had her admitted to the hospital."

Hazel turned to look at Alisha's lawyer, and she gasped in shock. She was being represented by Tom Ruben. One of the best lawyers in California. He almost never lost a case. Hazel gulped and her heart pounded. How did she get to afford him?!  Her mom probably spent a bunch of time these past months gambling to save up for money to get Tom Ruben as a fucking lawyer.

Hazel was already nervous enough, because of the simple fact that she has never been a prosecutor in court before. She stared at every inch of him. He was a tall, caramel colored man, with amazing facial structures. So attractive.

Hazel noticed that Alisha looked pretty confident sitting there to the left of her with her tight, orange Michael Kors dress. It almost looked like she was smiling. She knew she was in good hands. Fuck, Hazel thought.

"Is the defendant ready to enter a plea to the indictment?" Judge Rockman asked, with raised eyebrows, looking at Tom. "Yes, your honor." He stood. "The defendant, Alisha Reynolds pleads not guilty." Hazel rolled her eyes all the way back. I'd love to see how they're going to defend that.

The judge directed his eyes to Hazel's lawyer, Ms. Delilah. She was a sweet, curvy lady with long black hair. From the phone calls they would have about the case, she knew she was a good one. "Would the prosecutor like to defend that?" Ms. Delilah stood up, very seriously. "Yes, your honor. I'd like to let you know, Hazel Lemy is a nice, quiet, gentle good scholar who would never try to harm anybody. Over a year ago, Alisha who stopped being friends with Hazel because she thought that she was trying to get at her boyfriend at the time. But in reality, it was him who was trying to get with her. I don't know if it was an insecurity or something, but Alisha wasn't too happy about that, and that is why she has been bullying Hazel for the past year."

"Hazel was with two of her friends that day. One of them was Mr. Decker who is right here with us today." And the other one is a fake ass friend who bitched out on coming. "They were just coming back from school, and were inside of her house, until Alisha was at the door... an accidently leaked video... yanked her out of her house then violently punched her repeatedly, brutally beat her with a baseball bat which Alisha had gotten from her house, it was never Hazel's... blood dripping all over her face... sent to the hospital."

Jeremiah was called up to testify his point of view on the incident, and he did a great job at making me out to be a saint, and Alisha as the evil villain.

"Would the defendant like the fight that?" Judge Rockman asked.

Mr. Ruben stood up. "Your honor, first I would like confirm that these two ladies did indeed use to be friends at one point."  "But they had a fallout because Hazel was angry with Alisha for catching her red handed, having sexual relations with her boyfriend. And Hazel was apparently still angry about it which led up to the assault." Her face scrunched up in confusion and anger.

"That is not at all what happened your honor! I-" Judge Rockman held a hand up. "Eheheheh, let Mr. Ruben finish, please." "Anyway, Alisha came to Hazel's house to make up with her. Alisha tried to give Hazel her baseball bat back, which was autographed by famous baseball player, Mike Trout. A baseball bat that she loved so dearly. But instead of accepting her re-friendship request, Hazel grabbed the bat out of her hand and started beating her with it in anger. Which ended up sending Alisha to the hospital. Not Hazel. We have hospital records here for proof too." Mr. Ruben started shuffling through some papers, and gave a copy to the judge.

They created fake hospital papers claiming that Alisha was admitted to the hospital that day?! This is unreal.  Since so much time has gone by since the fight, Hazel's face was already free of the cuts and marks that Alisha left on her face, so it wasn't like she could use that to support her claim. Hazel's face hardened with frustration, as she shook her head. Alisha lifted her head up with her face saying, "we've got her now!" "And that is why we are pressing charges against Ms. Lemy as well."

Hazel's heart skipped a beat. Oh no. Oh no. Oh no. Oh my God. Against me? But no! I didn't do anything! This man is lying!! She grabbed her lawyer's arm in panic. She patted my hand, telling her to relax, it will be ok. Hazel turned to her mom, and she looked at her with wide, worried eyes.

Even though her lawyer did a great job at summing it up, and making Hazel's claim be believed as much as possible, it still didn't look too good. They were called for court again the following month. Hazel's face drooped as they exited the court room. "They got fake hospital records on us!" Hazel snapped to Ms. Delilah. "I know, I know, sweetie relax." "I can't relax! Alisha is really about to win this case after she sent me to the hospital because of a video accident!" She cried, fighting back tears.

The lawyer looked down at the ground in disappointment and scratched the back of her neck. "Well... she does have a really good lawyer. And it's hard to defend assault cases like this unless there is some kind of video evidence." Hazel sighed, deeply. "... But we still have the next trial." Ms. Delilah mentioned. They stopped and stood in front of each other. She forced her eyes to lift up from the floor. "Ms. Delilah... what do you think is going to happen?" She asked in a quiet, hurt tone. "To be honest, I don't know, Hazel..."

Great. She is going to win the trial. The bitch is going to get away with it. Like she gets away with everything!
