Chapter 27
Personally I couldn't- no wouldn't wish a woman had twins!
"Ahhhhh!" I yelled in pain as yet another contraction hit. "Shes dilated to a 6. Get the equipment set up, Shes delivering in another hour or so!" I heard the doctor order.
I was taking deep, rapid breaths to help but I'd be damned if it wasn't. Through all the chaos though I heard yet another howl.
This howl was nothing like the ones from earlier. It was closer and sounded in danger in a way. "It's beginning," Damen said and I snapped my head in his direction.
Imagine a woman covered in sweat wearing only a t-shirt. Her hair is damp from the sweat, her face is red from the pain and her body is shaking. Trying to prepare itself for the delivery of twins.
Now throw in the immense amount of fear she would have if she just heard that a war was beginning as she was about to deliver. Can you imagine that?
Yes?
Well ladies and gentleman of all ages you have just successfully imagined me. "What?!" I asked.
You could tell I was hurting because my voice cracked and I was slightly out of breath.
"Calm down," Damen cooed and I started having to take deep breaths again.
"Everything will be okay. I am right here and nobody will get to you, understand?" Damen spoke.
I thought about what he said and I gulped. Gulped down my unsure and uneasiness feelings along with the fear of this war and just simply nodded.
"Good, now listen the doctors are going to have to move you to the hospital wing for the delivery," Damen said. I didn't want to be moved but whatever needed to be done for my babies I would do.
So I nodded and allowed them to move me. It was when we got down to the front of the house, well the front door really, did I feel so uneasy that I wanted to go back upstairs.
"Damen something's not-" I said. Well more like lack of said. For it was right when I was about to finish did the front door burst open.
Allowing all of us to be drenched by at least 20 hissing blood suckers. It was a mixture of another contraction and utter fear did I scream at the top of my lungs.
"MOVE! PROTECT HER!" Damen yelled and began to fight the vampires. Hisses and growls filled the room all while my constant yells of pain.
That was until I was being moved by a stretcher to the hospital wing by the pack doctor, two men and a nurse.
"GET HER UP THERE AND SECURED NOW!" I heard Damen yelling while he killed a vampire.
As I was being wheeled away from the brutal fight I could see only glimpses of Damen fighting. His moves so fluent and swift. It was as if he had been born to kill.
Born to possess such power and agility. Even in the midst of all that was happening I felt such an undying love and passion for the man.
Something I knew would never die as long as I live!
"We are almost there," the doctor said and I was still taking deep breaths. "Get her in this room and set her up on the bed. Nurse get the needle and begin to give her medicine for the contractions," the doctor ordered.
In one swift motion I was lifted and placed on a bed. I felt another contraction coming and I gritted my teeth in pain.
Mostly in fear of the vampires finding me faster.
