Chapter 28
I woke up to a bright blue sky, the sound of distant water flowing and birds chirping. It was nice outside with the sun up and- wait.
Why the fuck was I still outside? My mind came back to me and I finally realized that I had fallen asleep after giving birth!
Wait! The twins! With not a second thought I jumped up and tried to find their scents.
Where the hell was I? I remember passing out after giving birth to the twins in the middle of the guardians, but that's about it.
So then if I passed out in that field how did I end up here?
Not even thinking about the consequences I began to walk in the direction of the water.
I hissed and whimpered all in one as I tried to walk and remembered the soreness of the child birth last night.
With my body not wanting to do much and I had no idea where I was I tried to mind link Damen.
"Damen?" I tried but when I did he had his mind link was closed off and I couldn't get ahold of him.
Now on top of not knowing where I was at and completely sore, I had a splitting headache.
Great! Just great! I was starting to freak out when I heard low growling. I couldn't tell who was growling but I knew it was getting closer.
No sooner did I look to my right I seen a huge brown wolf. It's fur was raggedy and was obvious that it hasn't been cleaned in a good while.
I could tell by the way the wolfs eyes were blood shot and slightly lifeless that my suspicions were right.
Without another thought I took off running to the left. Completely ignoring the pain between my legs and lower stomach I ran fast.
Afraid that if this rouge caught me then I knew I would never stand a chance.
Not now in my physical state I wouldn't. So I ran fast and hard. Slowly I could feel the rouge catching up, creeping behind me inch by inch.
As if it seemed like I was slowing down on purpose. Ignoring the burning pain I pushed on further and faster.
I needed to know how far behind me it was, but I couldn't do something stupid like look behind me and then end up tripping.
Yeah, I've seen the movies! Okay so maybe if I cut this corner and cleared the river I would be good.
With a plan in mind I waited about another 10 yards before I executed it. As soon as I cut the corner I felt the rouge sort of lunge and almost bite me.
Instead it only grazed my left shoulder. Gritting my teeth by the slight pain of my skin breaking I readied myself to clear the river.
5 yards to go.
I jumped the river as soon as my right foot hit the very edge. Using my right foot to push off and give me more momentum to make it I knew while I was in the air I wasn't going to clear it.
As I fell closer to the water I took a deep breath in and prepared myself for the cold sensation that soon engulfed my body.
Soon my body was swallowed whole by the water and I cold feel the small current sweeping me down river.
Thanks to my werewolf and guardian abilities I was able to swim to the other side with no problem.
Slowly I braced myself on the bank and hoisted myself up. Well at least now I knew where the water was coming from.
