Jez POV
The ride to the hospital was a long one. It turns out that when I want to get to a place the fastest all the red lights decide to make an appearance. As if feeling my tension Channing reaches over to grab my hand and gives it a light squeeze. "I'm sure everything will be okay," he says. I want to believe him, I really do. But is everything going to be okay? He can't assure me of that no one can, I have to see her myself to see that she is fine.
After what seemed like an hour drive we park and I nearly fall out of the vehicle opening the passenger door while the car was still in motion. "Jezebel!" Channing is yelling at me and looking at me as if I was crazy. I'm not crazy I'm desperate. Desperate for answers and reassurance. I rush to the door and meet my father who was waiting in the lobby for me.
"How is she?" I ask him out of breath from my running.
"The doctors haven't told me anything yet," he says. His eyebrows are scrunched together in concern making his face look ten years older than he really is.
"Where's Danny?" I ask.
"He's in the waiting room upstairs, he won't move from there." he tells me.
"Alone?"
"No, his girlfriends with him". I look at Channing nodding to the elevators as we start to walk towards them. My dad follows and pays extra close attention when Channing walks closer to me and holds my hand. Well that wasn't the way I wanted to tell him, but what can I do now? I know he is giving me a look as if saying ' why didn't you tell me?' But I know he wasn't going to give Channing the usual 'take care of my daughter or I'll kill you' speech.
Once we arrive I see Danny with his head between his hands as he sits in one of the chairs. Kim, his girlfriend, sits next to him patting his back softly and whispering reassurances every now and then. I find it nice how even in the worst of times they are always together. Their relationship is the type of relationship that I've always wanted to have, minus all the fighting of course.
I sit next to him and Channing next to me as we wait for the doctor to give us the news on Lena. A few minutes later a man wearing a white coat comes up to us and asks who was with Angelina Knight. We all rise and wait for the verdict.
"She is fine right now, and you'll be able to take her home today. Her blood sugar was dangerously low causing her to go unconscious but, as long as you give her some orange juice and make sure she eats snacks reguarly she should be okay." We all let out sigh of relief. She is okay. My little sister is fine. She was being careless with her pod as she always is and didn't check it. We really need to get on her case with that. It could take her away from us forever.
"She can recieve visitors now, and once you guys sign all the paperwork she can be released to go home," the doctor smiles at us and turns to walk away after we all say our thank yous. Danny and I look at each other rush to her room. Kim and Channing laughing behind us.
"They are related all right," Kim says. Channing smiles at her and then at me,"definetely".
Danny and I open the door to find a sleeping Lena attached to some tubes. She looked so peaceful while slept, not knowing that her sugar had gone low. She could be sleeping this peaceful forever and that brings me a disturbing thought. She senses our presence and opens her eyes slowly, blinking a couple of times due to the hospital room bright white light.
"Danny? Jez?" she says. She looked weak not like the little girl I took to the park a couple of days ago.
"We're here," Danny approaches her and takes her hand. It's moments like this that I love my brother the most. He shows his soft side, his compassionate side. His eyes so full of love for Lena, for both of us. He gives her the same look he gave me when I arrived to Boston, a blinding smile and eyes filled with admiration.
