AIDEN
That damn cat! My wolf growls loudly, causing a slight pain in my head, our mate is being watched by a creep!
My hands begin to grip the steering wheel causing my knuckles to turn white. After finding a shifter stalking Courts and getting caught in my wolf form, I shifted back and ran deeper into the alley, hearing someone open the back door. Out stepped a woman who's face I couldn't make out, but she smelt like sage and weed.
She picked up the stalker cat and went back inside. I took that as my chance to shift back into my wolf and run back home through the woods that surrounded the small town.
We need to find out who that shifter is, my wolf kept pestering me as I tossed in bed. I sigh, giving up on sleep. Who could sleep with a booming growl constantly complaining and whining in your head?
The only good thing was that my mate knows what my wolf looks like. And she didn't pass out, which is a plus, considering that most humans panic.
I climb out of bed and make my way to the kitchen. I shuffle down the hall lazily, but my wolf hearing catching a sound coming from the front porch. I stand still for a few seconds before I hear paws gently, almost attempting to be silent, patting around on the wooden floor, pacing around.
I take light steps down the flight of stairs until the unfamiliar scent hits my nose. Within a split second, I swing the door open and grab the small wolf by the throat, pinning it to the ground.
I let out a growl--giving the probably suicidal wolf, since she's decided to wander onto our land, a warning-- you move you die. She whimpers, giving in.
"Shift. Now," I state, might not be an alpha but I find deepening my voice is just as effective. I wait until I hear cracking before closing my eyes.
"I-I'm.." A small voice begins but stops.
I peel my shirt off and hand it out in midair, waiting for her to take it. She grabs it and I was a few more moments before I peak to find a small wide eyed girl contemplating on whether to look at the ground or at my chest. She was probably sixteen years old, 5 feet with short brown hair, and a bony stature as if she hasn't eaten probably for a week. My wolf begins a low dangerous growl, he was on high alert; although the girl couldn't take out a fly, my wolf didn't trust outsiders, especially since this was private property.
"Why are you here? Who are you?" I simply state, suddenly realizing that Luke should be taking care of this.
"I-I don't...I-I'm...uhh," the girl's voice shakes.
I lean over a bit, making eye contact with the stuttering mess, "Take a deep breath and try again or I'll have to get the Alpha, and trust me, my brother isn't a morning person."
The girl pulls her head back, attempting to get away from me. I stand straight and wait for her to answer me.
Why can't we just lock her away with the other rogues, my wolf grumbles.
I ignore his comment, the girl opens her mouth and if it wasn't for my wolf hearing I wouldn't have caught the faint, "Uncle sent me. He-he said war."
