CASSANDRA

The bell finally rings! I rush out of my classroom and head down the hall to the cafeteria. I stop right where the double doors hang wide open, waiting for my friends.

I watch as everyone flows past me but then spot Christine attempting to shove a binder into her bag. I giggle, that's her-- always has her locker with her.

I walk over and take the binder from her and link arms, "You know you can get scoliosis from carrying around so many books?"

Christine laughs, "If it's the price I have to pay to graduate this hell hole, I will become the Hunchback of Notre Dame."

We grab our lunches and head to the table we usually sit at when we have the school lunch.

We talk about random stuff until I spot Courtney talking to Aiden. AIDEN?!

"Oh. My. God," I struggle to say with a mouth full of food; I point towards Courtney and Aiden.

We both watch them get in the lunch line and keep talking...more like flirting.

"Wooowwww," Christine says, "Courtney's going in with the flirting! I think I can see the detail in her smile from here!"

I giggle, "I think I can see his reflection in her wide eyes!"

Courtney and Aiden are laughing about something when they begin to head for our table.

"Shit," I whisper through my teeth, "pretend you didn't see anything!"

Courtney and Aiden come up to the table and take a seat. I watch as Aiden pulls his chair closer to Courtney, Courtney's trying to hide her excitement.

"Guys, this is Aiden," Courtney introduces us with her best smile and this strange twitch in her left eye, "Aiden, these are my friends, Cassandra and Christine. You already know Mika too."

Aiden gives a wave, "Hey! Nice to meet you!"

I'm surprised by his excitement but I welcome it, it's not everyday you meet a guy excited to meet his love interest's friends.

We all talk for a while until Mika decides to make an entrance with Luke walking behind her. I raise an eyebrow, did cupid make a round today and missed me?

Mika has on this pouty face when she reaches the table but when her eyes land on us, a smile breaks through.

"Aww," I begin to whine like a baby, "why does big baby Mimi have a sad face?"

Mika takes a seat and Luke takes a seat besides her, leaning back in his seat and crossing his muscular arms over his chest. He has a grin across his face and a glint in his eyes. I look between the two, attempting to figure out what was going on between them, but nothing. NADA.

They're really made for each other, I thought, both cryptic and strange.

"Okay..." Christine says, bring all our attention to her, "What are we doing this weekend?"

Luke sits up and clears his throat; Mika picks up a chip from my tray and raises an eyebrow, but doesn't look at Luke.

"Um...I think I can help with that," Luke's deep voice rings throughout our table, "There's this party my cousin is throwing at my house on Friday and was wondering if you guys wanted to come?"

I want to scream yes, but I didn't want to sound desperate, so I looked around the table and land eyes on Mika.

I grin, "I'll go...if Mika's going?"
