it was around 11pm when lester dropped rj at crown towers. rj rushed to the elevators leading to maine's hotel room sending the heavens silent prayers. when he got to her floor he noticed a housekeeping trolley in front of her door, he waited until the staff went out of the room. the housekeeping staff was surprised to see a guest lingering on the guest floor asked

"ahm sir? ano pong kailangan nila?"

ah yes, may nakalimutan kasi akong kunin sa room namin ng fiance ko, si miss maine mendoza yung nandito sa 1607. nagrequest pala sya ng housekeeping

"ay opo sir, nagrequest po sya kanina and since lalabas daw po sya ng room ok lang naman daw na buksan, ok na po yung extra towels at feather pillow, nasa loob na po. may additional request pa po ba kayo?"

not to draw any attention and suspicion rj come up with an excuse

ah wala na. hintayin ko na lang sya bumalik naiwan ko kasi yung hotel key card sa kotse nasa kanya rin kasi yun susi. sige salamat.

"ay ganun po ba, pwede naman po kayo pumunta sa front desk, ina-acknowledge naman po ng front desk staff ang mga registered guest kapag na-misplace nila ang key card nila"

naku salamat pero tawagan ko na lang muna sya baka kasi pabalik na rin yun. salamat nga pala

"ok po sir. pano po alis na po ako, in case may kailangan po kayo tawag na lang po kayo nakalista naman po yung mga extension ng hotel services namin sa loob ng room nyo."

ah yes sige. salamat ulit. and then he handed her a 500 peso tip for the service.

"naku sir thank you po ng marami, kung matagalan po si mam pwede po kayo maghintay sa lounge para mas kumportable po kayo"

it's ok. hindi na rin naman siguro sya magtatagal. pabalik na rin yun. salamat ulit

"sige po sir. have a great evening po" and with that, the housekeeper smiled and walked away. now all rj can do is to wait for her to come back. honestly he felt relieved that she was not inside, at least he will not force his way if in case she doesn't want to open the door, but when he glanced at his watch he can't help but worry on where she might have gone especially now that it's almost midnight.

three minutes before 12, he saw maine making her way towards him. and from the way she walks, he could tell she had been drinking. he rushed to her side when he saw she lost her balance.

ok lang ako..... ahhmmm ano pala ginagawa mo dito?

bakit ka uminom?

hah? ahhh... inenjoy ko lang yung last night ko dito sa manila.... she simply replied still avoiding his gaze

she walked towards her room just then rj gently wrapped his arms around her waist while she's looking for her key card inside her purse.

he said those words sweetly that her defenses started crumbling, she closed her eyes trying so hard not to let her tears fall.

she opened the door and went inside, she didn't say anything so he took it as his cue to let himself in. once inside, he locked the door and found maine sitting on the couch, her eyes closed.
