"Dr Kim? Yeah, sure I can pick up the kid," the lanky guy said into his phone. "What time? Oh, yeah, sorry. I'll pick him up now."

The trainee nurse hung up and pocketed his phone. He stepped outside, feet pattering down the path in the middle of the neat lawn, and unlocking his little red car. He got in, started up the engine, and put the radio on full volume. He winced, switching over to his favourite hip-hop CD and driving away.

He lived someway out of the city, and further than he would have liked from his new nursing placement. He had been tasked with picking up the latest patient to be starting in-patient treatment at his new place of work. It was a group home for mental health patients, and the nurse-in-training couldn't wait to start.

"Hello...?" the boy at the door asked, looking and sounding confused. He was a little chubby, but the trainee nurse thought he looked cute.

"Hi!" he said brightly. "I'm Xu Minghao, and I'm here to take you to your in-patient treatment."

"You don't look old enough," the boy said dubiously.

"And you don't look sick enough, but obviously there's more to a book than just the cover," he quipped.

"Alright," the younger boy agreed, narrowing his eyes. "I'm Boo Seungkwan."

Minghao shook his chubby hand and grinned.

"Are you Chinese?" Seungkwan asked suddenly.

"Yep, that obvious?" Minghao shrugged.

"It's just your accent-"

"Seungkwan, darling," said an older woman coming to the door. "Ah, you must be Nurse Minghao." She smiled at the taller guy.

"Nurse-In-Training, to be exact," he answered, "Is Seungkwan ready to go?"

"I can answer for myself," Seungkwan grumbled. "Bye, mom."

"Goodbye, my darling," she said, starting to get teary, "Get better, okay?"

"Let's go, then," said Minghao, taking the suitcase that Seungkwan had picked up, and carrying it with some difficulty to his tiny car.

"Your car's pretty shit," Seungkwan remarked as he got into the front passenger seat.

"I'm on a budget," Minghao replied. "It's annoying as fuck when they say that, isn't it?"

"When who says what?" Seungkwan asked as Minghao got in the driver's seat and fastened his seat-belt.

"When people tell you to 'get better'," the trainee nurse explained, "It's not like you can just 'get better', just like that." He snapped his fingers to illustrate.
