6: Mardy Bum

After Lee's proposal, Jack and his new fiancé headed back to the car and drove back to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, to tell Robert and Bobby about their big news, they couldn't contain their excitement, they both felt like fangirls getting overly excited when they see their favourite celebrity. Once they'd arrived back home they raced towards Robert's office to tell him about their engagement, they entered Robert's office, he was writing letters just like Jack was doing before Lee took him out, Robert stopped what he was doing and looked up to Jack and Lee who were standing quite awkwardly in front of his desk waiting for him to acknowledge them, he then said:

"Hey, guys, what's up?"

"We have something to tell you,"replied Jack

"Oh, no don't tell me, you're breaking up?" Robert jokingly asked

"No! It's something way more better than that!"

"Well, come on, out with it, Jack,"

"Me and Lee are engaged!" Jack exclaimed excitedly

"Well, I'll be damned! Congrats, you two!"

"Thanks, Robert. Hey, do you know where Bobby is? So we can tell him our big news," Lee asked Robert.

Hey, I'm right here, fellas," said Bobby walking into Robert's office, answering Lee's question.

"We've got something to tell you..." says Lee as he suddenly trails off, but then Jack continues for him:

"We're engaged, Bobby!". Said brother stares blankly at his brother and brother-in-law in disbelief, not believing what he had just heard.
"What?! Aww, that's great, you two! I can't wait to tell Mom and Dad!"

"I'm not sure how they'll react, Bobby, because I've not told them that I'm gay or that Lee was the one who almost assassinated me in '63, so I'm not sure how that'll work out. Mom might be accepting, but you know how dad gets,"

"Alright, so we won't go to Boston help to you 'come out of the closet' and 'show off' your fiancé to our parents?"

"No, it's not that it's because I'm scared of how everyone will react to the news, that one of Joe Kennedy's boys is a queer, think of what would happen if we were to tell them that I'm in love and engaged to be married to a man that tried to kill me a few years ago,"

"Yeah, I guess you're right, Jack, I'm sorry if I was putting you under pressure,"

"It's okay, Bobby, apology accepted,"

"Well, I'm glad everyone is accepting to us, thanks you two," says Lee to Bobby and Robert. Lee then turns to Jack and says:

"If your mom and dad don't accept us, then we could maybe fly down to New Orleans in Louisiana and visit my mom, cause I've actually not seen or spoke to her in a while, and maybe it would be the perfect opportunity for you both to get to know each other, considering that she is going to be your mother-in-law fairly soon,"

"Um... yeah I think that could work out,"

"Ok, when do you think we can fly down?"

"Do you really wanna go soon?"

"Yeah, I mean you can meet my mom and my brothers,"

"Alright, cool, but um... where's your dad?"

"He died two months before I was born,"

"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't know that, Lee,"

"It's okay, babe, but thanks for your sympathy,"

"Yeah, no problem,"
