FIVE YEARS LATER
ASUNA'S POV
I stared at my reflection.
Ok, you can do this. Summon all that bloody courage and ask him.
I huffed and, hanging my head, shook it back and forth. "Do it." I pointed at myself and immediately got dress in a comfortable pair of black leggings and an oversized purple hoodie over a black tank-top. Before leaving my room, I brushed out my long white curls and pulled it up into a high ponytail.
As I reached the downstairs, I heard the familiar snoring of my guardian. In the living room, laying in the middle on the floor, was Mr. Shota Aizawa in a bulky yellow sleeping bag. It was zipped up all the way to his chin as usual; all you could see was his sleeping face and tufts of his long messy black hair. I slumped to my knees in front of him and moved his bangs out of his eyes. Then, I poked him in the forehead.
"Mr. Aizawa." I whispered loudly. He stirred in the sleeping bag. I poked him two more times. "Mr. Aizawa, I have a question." This time he squinted his dark eyes open and gazed up at me.
"What time is it?" he asked.
"Time for you to get up." I unzipped the bag and pulled him out by both arms. "I want to talk about something important."
"What is it?" he grumbled. Obviously not a morning person.
"I need you to wake up for this, Mr. Aizawa."
"You know," he rose to his feet. "you can just call me Aizawa. You don't have to be so formal. It's annoying." He smirked despite the sarcasm. "Come on, I'll make us some food." I shook my head and followed him into the kitchen.
5 years later, and he still thinks he cooks for us. We had our routine, but Mr. Aizawa struggled to commit to it sometimes. After our meal, I finally had a chance to ask him.
"Mr. Aizawa," I took a deep breath. "I want to go to U.A High School."
Mr. Aizawa nearly choked on his drink. After wiping his mouth, he exhaled deeply. I can tell I was about to get a lecture. "You know why you can't do that..."
I know...and I don't care...
"Please, Mr. Aizawa." I begged. "I've never been to a real school and I know I can succeed to become a pro-hero."
"Asuna..." He started, but stopped and rubbed his temples. "You're still learning to control all your quirks. If you were to slip up..."
"Mr. Aizawa, please." I sighed. "Where am I going to end up if I don't try to do something with my life? This is my chance to become a hero. To become someone like you. I've trained myself for five years for this moment. You've trained me for this moment. Please. Let me show you the results."
Aizawa stared at me with those dark tired eyes. Silence hovered the two of us for a good 10 seconds. Folding his hands together on top of the table, he let out a long sigh.
"Under one condition."
I straightened in my seat, trying to contain my anxiety.
"You can only use one quirk. Choose one and stick with it."
"Yes! I can do that!" I jumped up and threw my arms around his torso, locking his arms to his sides. "Thank you! Thank you!"
"Yeah, yeah." He smirked. "Listen, the entrance exam is in a few months. So study up."
"Yes! Yes, of course!" I released him and jumped up and down excitedly. When I did, ice shot out from my feet, creating a slippery sheet in the kitchen. Aizawa slipped and crashed on his butt. I couldn't contain my laughter as I apologized over and over.
I'm going to do it. I'm going to become a pro-hero. Just like him.
