SHOUTO'S POV

"My father is a mad scientist. He had always questioned the reality of quirks and how they've came to be. He got an idea of transferring other people's quirks into a quirkless person to see if they, too, could have a power. When the test of one quirk being transferred into someone was successful, my father wanted to go the next level: putting five quirks in one person..."

I shook my head at the thought. In my opinion, the whole idea of using people for their quirks was outrageous...its the concept of how I was born and I hated it. "Were you quirkless when your father chose you?"

"No, and I wasn't chosen by my father." Asuna corrected me. "The lab needed subjects to test, so they would hire people off the streets. At the one point, they were taking thugs off the streets, bribing them with 'great power'."

"So how did you come into the picture?" I asked, and she bit her lip. This must be so hard on her, and I was asking her too much.

"Todoroki," I blinked when she said my name. "Just because we made a deal when our lives were on the line, doesn't mean I had to. I'm choosing to tell you because you deserve to know." I nodded and relaxed as she continued her tale.

"So many tests failed...some people actually died...so people obviously stopped volunteering and word was spread so villains refused. That's when my father got desperate..." She paused as she wringed her hands together. My hand moved to touch her shoulder, but I caught myself.

"I was five years old, when my father paid those bastards to take me into their torture chamber...I don't remember anything that happened during the procedure...just—I woke up in a room with people applausing all around me." Another pause. "I was their first success. The ultimate lab rat."

"Komiko..." This time I reached out and touched her shoulder blade, rubbing it gently. "I'm so sorry."

That's when I noticed tears rimming her eyes.

"I was treated like a weapon. They forced me into hellish training so I could control all five at once. I almost died countless times, but they were very strict on keeping me alive. They weren't going to let me die. Not their prized possession."

"You are not a possession, Asuna!" I snapped accidently. Our eyes met. A tear fell from her violet one. I grabbed both her shoulders. "You are amazing. What happened to you was horrible. What those monsters did to you was completely horrific. But look at you now."

"Shouto..."

I smiled and unconsciously took her hands in mine. "When you used those quirks to take down that creature...I was amazed at your strength. The very fact you could control all that power...it's incredible. You're incredible."

Komiko smiled as a few more tears fell. A small laugh escaped her lips and I cocked my head to the side. "You know, when Aizawa saved me five years ago, he volunteered to take me in...and after I told him I had five quirks...you know what he said?"

"What did he say?" I smiled back.

"He said I was the most special person in the world. He called me a princess...a special princess..." She laughed, and then leaned forward, resting her head on my chest. She began to sob and her hands gripped the front of my jacket. I wrapped my arms around her as she cried, trying to comfort her.

Time past what seemed so slowly...I felt like I was really helping her, just sitting there holding her.

When she finally raised her head, she had a huge smile on her face. "Thank you, Todoroki. I really appreciate you dealing with me like this."

I shook my head. "It's no problem. And you can call me Shouto."

"Asuna."

We playfully shook hands as if we were introducing each other, laughing.

"Hey, this might be a little random, but I love your eyes." She admitted. "The first time I met you and saw your eyes, it was awesome to see someone else with two different-colored eyes."

"I like yours, too." I said. "They're the best part about you."

"Thanks."

"No, thank you."

There was a moment of silence after a brief laugh.

"Can I ask you just one thing, Shouto?"

"Yeah, go ahead."

"Why did you say you prefer to not use your left side?"

I shook my head again. "How did I know that was coming to me?" I joked, and Asuna waved her hands. "You don't have to tell me! I was just wondering..."

"It's fine," I assured. "It's actually because of my father." Her eyes widened. "Who's your father?"

"Um...he's Endeavor."

"You're father is ENDEAVOR?!?!"

"Yeah, but he's not all you think he is...he's just a selfish, infamous hero who wants to show-off his perfect son." My smile disappeared as I talked about my old man. "Ever heard of a Quirk Marriage?"

She gasped and nodded slowly. I clapped my hands together. "Well, there you have it. My life story in one sentence." I sighed and hung my head, fidgeting with my shoe string.

"I'm sorry, Shouto." Asuna scooted to me and wrapped her arms around my torso. "I guess we both have crappy dads."

"Yeah," I breathed, hugging her back. "I guess we do."
