ASUNA'S POV
While the rest of the First Round Battles went on, I sat at Katsuki's side, who was still unconscious from having the air basically sucked out of his lungs. We were in Recovery Girl's infirmary at the stadium, and Recovery Girl herself was looking after him. She told me all he needed was rest for a couple hours and he would be as good as new. Then, she told me she was going to run an errand real quick and would be back soon. With that, I was alone with Katsuki.
I studied his face, which was surprisingly peaceful. His chest moved steadiedly up and down under the thin blanket. His arms rested above the sheet at his side. My hand reached for his left hand and held it calmly.
"I'm sorry I had to win like this." I said softly. "But you just don't understand what I've been through, and your words triggered my anger inside me. I know you didn't intend that; like you said, you wanted to face me at my strongest. You are strong, Katsuki. The strongest in our entire class, and if wasn't for my cheap trick...you probably would've won. I wish I could tell you my past...but..it's not your burden..."
Then why did you tell Shouto?
I shook the thought out of my head. Squeezing Katsuki's hand, I rose from my seat and leaned over his face. "This is the least I can do for you, Katsuki..." I breathed, and pressed my lips onto his. The moment I released, his eyes fluttered opened and he gasped. When our eyes met, his cheeks flushed and his hand shot to his mouth, speechless.
I smiled slightly before leaving his side.
SHOUTO'S POV
When I finished winning my first battle, I returned to the stands where Class 1-A was gathered. There, I saw Asuna and sat next to her.
"Nice going on your win." I said, but I didn't get a reply. Her eyes were focused on the thriving arena, Midoriya was facing against Shinso, a student from Class 1-B. "Asuna?" I waved my hand, hoping to catch her attention. She blinked and faced me with a confused expression. "Shouto? When did you get here?"
I chuckled and rested my chin on my palm. "For about 30 seconds. I congratuated you on your win and you apparently didn't hear me." She sighed and leaned back in her seat. "Thanks, but that was kind of a let-down sort of win."
I cocked my head to the side. "Why do you say that?" She looked like she was about to answer, but closed her mouth and stayed silent. I crossed my arms and watched Midoriya's battle, not really comprehending it.
Suddenly, I saw at the corner of my eye Asuna leaning over and resting her temple on my shoulder. "Um, Asuna? Are you okay?" She nodded and then closed her eyes. "I'm just resting before my next match...a lot has happened in a short period of time."
"What do you mean?" I asked, and when I turned my head towards her, her hair grazed my nose, and I caught the scent of vanilla. My cheeks burned. She looked even prettier than before. "Hey..." she breathed, her eyes still closed. "What did you want to ask me? Before Mr. Aizawa interrupted us?" I cleared my throat at the sudden memory and quickly remembered...
"Oh, well, I..." My nerves shook. "I was wondering if..." I paused and took a breath before continuing in a lower voice. "I was going to ask if you ever wished you could change what happened to you...if you could change your past into a better one..."
All of the sudden, the crowd went wild when Midoriya ended up winning his match. Asuna clapped and lifted her head from my shoulder. "I guess I should go get ready." She smiled and left without another word, as if I never asked anything. I was about to call out after her, but she moved with what seemed like a sense of urgency. I leaned back in my seat, confused and also bothered and disappointed. I could still feel her head on my shoulder as I sat there in silence.
Glancing down where Asuna was seating, I noticed a charm-like keychain and picked it up. It was a little purple, jeweled flower on a silver chain. It must be sort of good-luck charm. I decided to return it to her and rose to my feet to go find her.
Walking down the hall to the Waiting Room, I heard a scream.
Asuna's scream.
I immediately sprinted towards her cries. When I turned the corner, I saw two large men with suits and shades on grasping Asuna's struggling body. There was blood dripping from her scalp.
"Let her go!" I shouted and sent a wall of ice at the one on the left, but he easily stopped it with his palm. Shocked, I didn't realized the second one zipping right up to me. He kneed me in the gut and kicked me down to the hard, concrete floor.
"Shouto!" Asuna cried out to me. Our eyes met for a moment...just before a blow to my head knocked me unconscious...the last thing I saw was fear in her eyes and heard her screaming my name...
