THIRD PERSON POV
Asuna sat in the waiting room, pondering to herself what her stragedy should be against Bakugo. Since he was a very agressive player, she knew she would be on the defense most of the time. Of course, that meant while Bakugo's offense is high, his defense will suffer. All Asuna had to do was wait for the right moments during the battle to counter-attack.
There was a knock at the door. "Come in," she said, resting her chin on her palms. Todoroki entered the room, which surprised Asuna. "What are you doing here?" Todoroki shrugged. "I guess to wish you luck." His voice seemed to have gone back to its gentle self. Asuna smiled to herself to see that Todoroki has calmed down a little since the beginning of the festival.
"And also..." Todoroki continued, but paused to take a seat next to Asuna. His heterochromia eyes stared straight into hers. "I wanted to ask you a...personal question." Asuna's body tensed up from the sudden request. "O-of course...go on." she nodded, anxious to hear what he had to ask.
"Do you—"
Untimingly, the door swung open and Aizawa walked in. He looked at both Asuna and Todoroki, his brow raising slightly. "Am I interrupting something?"
"Ye—"
"No, sir, Mr. Aizawa." Todoroki stopped Asuna. "I was just wishing Komiko good luck." He rose to his feet and headed to the exit. "Excuse my intrusion." With that, he left.
"Mind telling me what you two were talking about?" Aizawa questioned, sitting on the table top in front of Asuna. Asuna lowered her gaze. "We weren't talking about anything...we didn't have the chance to."
"I see, my apologies." Aizawa popped his knuckles. "I guess Mr. Todoroki and I had the same idea. How are you feeling?"
"Confident. I think I have a durable plan to beat Ka—Bakugo at his own game."
Aizawa grinned and ruffled Asuna's long white hair. "I'm not worried. Yes, Bakugo is strong, but he does before he thinks, which gives you a big advantage. Just remember to observe and analyze the situation and act swiftly. It's a great trait to have as a hero."
"Still in Teacher-Mode?" Asuna joked and stood up to wrap her arms around her guardian. "Do you think I have what it takes to win this whole tournament?" Aizawa awkwardly patted her back. "Asuna, you were meant to win it all."
With that, the call for the contestants to enter the arena buzzed. Aizawa slid out of Asuna's arms and gave her one more hair ruffle. "Kick some ass."
"Yes, sir."
ASUNA'S POV
As I entered the stadium, the audience went wild. The sun was beating down and I could feel its rays bouncing off the paved arena. Katsuki came from the other side with his hands dug into his pockets and a smugged expression on his face.
"Don't think just because you're a girl, you're going to get it easy, because I'm going all out." He shot one more comment.
"I wouldn't want it any other way." I said back, and readied myself for the signal, focusing my first movement directly to the soles of my feet.
Focus...
The whistle blew and immediately I summoned that stored energy and shot forward with impressive speed, even to me. I pulled my fist back and swung it with all I had. Unfortunately, it slammed right into Katsuki's open palm. Such quick reflexes! My own reflexes acted and I was able to retreat before getting bombed by his hand explosion.
"Damn, I thought I could end you right then and there." I smirked, noticing Katsuki's shocked reaction. I didn't wait for him to recover: next, I aimed for his legs. Propelling myself low to the ground, I swept my foot across, but he dodged by exploding himself upward. "Bad idea." I grinned, and used my other leg to hit him right in the side. When I made contact, a explosion sent a shock up my leg and we both crashed to the ground.
I could hear the crowd's applauses and shouting growing louder and louder.
Katsuki and I both rose to our feet and stared right into each other's eyes. He was holding his side where I kicked him. My leg was numb. Before I knew it, Katsuki was in front of me. His palm reached out towards my face and I leaned just far enough for him to miss by a hair. I forced my knee up, but he reacted by shooting himself to the left. I sent a thin wall of air between us for a moment until I could regain my footing and face him. This time, when I looked into his eyes, I saw...anger...
"Why are you holding back!?" he shouted at me. I was confused. When he saw my hesitation, he spat, "I told you to give me everything you had! And I mean everything!"
"Katsuki, I am using everything inside m—wait, you don't mean—"
"You bet your ass, damn it!" He thrust his finger at me. "Use all those quirks on me! Fight me with all your power!"
"Katsuki, you know I can't do that, you selfish bastard!" I shot back. "I can't do that in front of all these people. I can't expose myself like that!"
Katsuki gritted his teeth and furiously pounded both his fists on my Air Wall. "You promise..."
"I didn't know you meant my other quirks." I said, stepping closer to the wall. "I am using everything I have with this quirk...why aren't you satisfied with that?"
"Because, I know you're stronger than this! And I can't become stronger if people like you hold back!"
I fell silent. "People like me, huh..." My chin lowered as I decided to end this fight. I held my hand out and summoned all the air to thin out around Katsuki. He started gagging and clawing at his throat, falling to his knees. His suddenly-frightened eyes gazed deeply into mine before going limp and passing out. I released the air, reached out, and caught him in my arms, his cheek rested on my shoulder.
There's no one in this world who is like me, Katsuki..." I breathed in his ear just before Midnight, the ref, announced me the victor of the first round.
