Chapter 25 :

At Dumbledore's Office:

Hermoine reaches Dumbledore's office through the window. It was dark all around. "Lumos"(a white light can be seen on the tip of her wand) she says and looks around the room. She can see chair, books, table, clock, shelves and 4 beautiful portraits of Hogwarts founders. One of the portrait stares at Hermoine. The beautiful Rowena Ravenclaw gives her a sly smile. Her eyes were instensly watching Hermione's eyes.

Hermione feels something different about this portrait. She could connect herself with Rowena. This was absolutely weird for Hermoine. She then thought maybe this was one of the protection charm Dumbledore must have put. She looked back from the portrait. She could still feel her eyes on her.

She started looking around the room, to save her from any charms. She used the spell "Detecto Impersona" ( a spell that detects everything in the surrounding- one of the very rarest spell known. It was read by hermoine, in one of the books in the restricted section) Then a blue light emerged from the tip of her wand, which travelled all around the room. Suddenly the blue light circled itself around one of the shelves. Something was hidden in that shelf, it also had charms around it. Hermione, who have read around two thirds of the restricted section books also knew the counter spell for such protective charms. "Debaro Protecto " she said and the charm was broken off by the bright white light, which flashed from her wand.

The charms had broken off from the shelf. She could see many books in that shelf. One book caught her attention. It was a very old book, with black cover and had a snake's picture on it. While the other books were well maintained, neat and tidy. As soon as she pulled out the odd book from the shelf, the shelf moved itself and showed her a hidden path.

She casted "Appreno Catchus " (a spell that catches the most valuable object present inside the room) spell, and then a Penseive, along with many test tubes came up. The test tubes contained different memories of a person. Now finding the correct memory was very difficult for Hermoine. There were nearly 100 small test tubes. How could she pick up the correct one? She didn't even know the spells to find out the memory she wants. She was thinking deeply.... There has to be something.... A small link...... It then clicked her mind. Though she wasn't sure it would work. She casted the spell "Accio Lucius Malfoy's Memory" but nothing happened.

She was very adamant to find his memories. The memories are fresh, as Lucius came today. She looked carefully at the test tubes. It had slightly different colours. Some were cream colour, some were light yellow, some bright yellow and very few were whitish cream and one plain white. Old memories colour deepens with time. The fresh ones have white colour, and from white it begins to deepen as days pass....Her eyes then caught a test tube that only had white colour. She carefully picked it out and went to the penseive...

She poured one drop of the memory into the penseive and suddenly black mist started covering her vision, everything around her surrounding began to change and she found herself at a dark room.......
