Chapter 40 :

Harry and Draco were curiously waiting for Hermoine to spill out the truth. The long breathe that she took before speaking, was the longest wait for Draco Malfoy. Time was ticking by and there was no longer wait than this, to finally know the truth about his mother.

Hermione was nervously pacing around the room. Her hands were fidgeting. She was biting her lips. This truth wasn't hers to tell but if they wanted to make a move to stop the Dark Lord's rise, she had no option. Her mind was racing behind the thoughts of how Draco Malfoy will take this news. Will he forgive his father?

After taking a long breath, "I viewed the memories of Lucius Malfoy. (She turned her gaze towards Draco) I saw him today morning at Dumbledore's office. He is helping the Order. He risked his life to get one of The Dark Lord's Horcrux. Apparently there's a change of heart, I didn't want to believe it at first, but Lucius Malfoy loves his family more than his pride. And your mother is alive Dra-Malfoy. She is safe and it's better that we don't know where she is currently. Dumbeldore has promised her safety and in return Lucius will help the order. He wants to defeat the Dark Lord. I know it's come to a shock to all of us, but it's the truth. I have seen him in his worst. He regrets everything he has done in the past, and he loves his wife and you- Draco." she said calmly. She was blinking away her tears... Those memories of Narissca Malfoy's torture, the shame and guilt on Lucius Malfoy's face, the pain in Draco's eyes. A loving family being devastated by the rage and madness of The Dark Lord was the worst pain one could ever feel.

Harry and Draco's mouth were wide open. Only two things were ringing in Draco's ears:
One- His mother is alive and safe
Second- Lucius Malfoy have changed

Silent cry of tears were flowing down from the silver orbs. He went rigid, all he could hear was the painful sounds of his heart beats. His vision was blurry, due to the crystal tears forming in his eyes.
'Was his father really guilty? Has he really changed? Is this the new Lucius Malfoy? Is there really a change of heart? Can he give up his pride for his family?'
All these questions were popping up in his mind. He clenched his fists tightly, not wanting to know the negative answer. It was very hard for him to believe this.....

Harry was utterly shocked. Never in his dreams he must have thought about Lucius Malfoy's helping and caring side. He saw Draco's silent tears, indeed he felt bad for his arch enemy. Harry was very kind and loving just like his mother. He never wished anything bad for his enemies, he only prayed to God, that one day they will follow the right path. And looking at Malfoy, it seemed to him that finally his prayers were answered. He is determined to help the Malfoy's, after all they have one thing in common ie "love for family & friends " which the Dark Lord definitely lacks!!

He place his hand on Draco's shoulder. He was not sure how to console him. He looked at Hermoine who was trying to blink away her tears.
"We will help you Malfoy. I know it's a tough phase for you and your family, but knowing what your father did to get the Horcrux from Vol.. Dark Lord's clutches was extremely courageous. Give him a chance to redeem himself." said Harry in a soothing tone.

And what happened next, was something that none of them anticipated.
Draco Malfoy hugged Harry Potter!
