Chapter 6: Seconded Name Doesn't Mean Seconded Nature

Cean came up to me and when Cean came up to me I was scared.

Kian and me were talking normally now. Still a bit awkward at times but so close to back to normal. I had managed to get him out of school. That night we had snuck out, over the back wall and off to my rock. Together we had dubbed it “Cliff Point”. For hours we had sat up there talking. I had been right in thinking he’d love it.

It was at lunch, Kian was nowhere in sight and Cean started walking towards me. I had been sure he was going to do something but he simply sat down on the same table as me.

Once he’d finished eating his lunch (some bread with what looked like green slime oozing out of the middle) he looked up at me, “You have any family?” he asked.

I shook my head.

“Now that’s a lie. I knew your sister.” I wanted to hit that smug look right off his face that instant. The only reason I didn’t was because I was curious about his mention of my sister.

“Her and Eric really had the hot’s for each other didn’t they. Strange how you, Sam’s sister, and Kian, Eric’s brother, are besotted with each other. Must be a sibling thing.”

Kian, no it wasn’t possible. Kian was Eric’s brother! He was that monsters brother! No he, he was nice, sweet. He didn’t look anything like him! How? No, impossible. But….

“Don’t tell me you didn’t know?” Ceans face was the picture of victory, “His last names O’Hara. Go look it up I assure you its true. I should know if anyone does. I was after all Eric’s no1 man.”

I stood up sharply and left. Not wanting to listen to any more of what he had to say.

Kian O’Hara, Kian O’Hara, no, couldn’t, but, it was… I was foolish, stupid. Protecting that monster. How could I. He deserved everything he gets for what his brother did. I bet really he was like his brother, an uncontrollable demon.

It seemed we were getting back to normal. Eating lunch together hanging out. She even got me to leave school. That was new for me, new and scary. Since I started at Bentley I hadn’t left the campus once.

I snuck out once Cean was asleep. Spent a few hours with Aqua on top of our “Cliff Point” then went back to my room.

As soon as I walked in the lights went on. Cean was standing there, fully awake. All I could do was wish that the floor would swallow me up. Unfortunately it didn’t.

“Well, well, well, and where have you been on this fine night?” He smirked, “You know the penalty for sneaking off Campus with out permission?”

I nodded.

“Expulsion. Well that’s the schools punishment anyway.” I new what was coming, I knew I would be ill the next morning and I knew that if I ever did anything like this again he would near enough kill me. “Down…”

I laid on the bed and let him do the rest. I was his slave he could do with me what he liked. This was my punishment for disobeying my master.

The next day I was off school. Like I had predicted the night before I was ill. Literally thronging up and feeling awful. The day after I still wasn’t 100% but I went in anyway. First thing I did of cores was go up to Aqua. She ignored me completely.

All through the day it seemed like she was ignoring me, avoiding me. Then last thing she came up to me.

“Have you got a brother?” she asked with her hands, a panicked look in her eyes.

What should I say? What could I say? “No”.

Her eyes were spiteful, “what’s your last name?”

Why on earth was she asking me all these questions? It was like she knew something about me but she just needed to find out if it were true to convict me. “O’Hara, why?”

She gasped and started to sob. Everyone who was around looked at us and started to whisper. I didn’t understand it myself. Aqua just ran off after that. I didn’t even see or talk to her again until over two months later after…
