As Rose silently lays there, holding Jack's hand, watching the stars, beginning to doze off, a voice can be heard in the distance. "Is there anyone alive out there? Can anyone hear me?" the voice calls out in the distance. Rose ignores it at first thinking it is all in her head, but then Jack shakes her hand, "you see Rose? I told you they would come back for us". His voice was cracking in the process of saying this due to the deathly cold temperature. He tried to yell, but his voice sounded faded, so Rose tried to yell and hers wasn't any louder. She look around, but not too far as their vision was also becoming blurred. A few feet from them, was a man with a whistle. The water had become too cold for him and he sadly lost his life but they needed the whistle since it was louder than their voices.
Rose slowly brings herself lower off of the ships remains that she and Jack were floating on, back into the water and swim over to the guy with the whistle. It had been frozen in between his lips causing Rose to force it out. With barely enough air in her lungs, Rose puts the whistle to her frozen lips and blows on it as hard as she can. She does this while making her way back over to Jack. "They're coming Jack, we're saved!" She says in a weakened excited tone. She tries to smile but her face is frozen stiff. The boat makes their way to Rose and Jack and drags them inside. "Give them the blankets, keep them warm." The man rowing the boat demands. Jack and Rose are now seated in the boat; huddled up with two separate blankets. "I'm so tired, yet I'm so cold" Rose weakly says to Jack. "I can sit on the floor of the boat Rose, you lie down and sleep and I will make sure nothing happens to you." Jack replies while getting on to the floor of the life boat.
Rose lays on the seating area of the nearly empty life boat and holds Jack's hand. Jack watching Rose as she begins to doze off. "By the way Rose, I love you too." He says. She can faintly hear the sound of his voice but before she could even reply she was fast asleep. Jack still holding her hand and keeping an eye on her, he smiles and covers her up some more. "How long have you to been together?" The man rowing the boat questioned Jack. "We actually met on the ship" Jack replied. "And you think you're in love already?" Asked the man who was now in shock. "I nearly died for this woman, and she has risked her life for me in what we thought could be the last few moments of our life. I know that I love this woman. And I can tell she definitely loves me too." Jack answered. The man smiles and nods his head in agreement. "So what is your name anyway?" The man politely asked. "I'm Jack Dawson. How about yours?" Jack replied. "I'm Charles Herbert, nice meeting you Jack, I'm sorry it had to be in such horrible circumstances." Charles replied. Turning his attention towards the starry night skies, Jack grins a friendly grin, "If we were lucky enough to survive, how horrible could it really be? Of course, in respect to all the other lost souls" Jack replies. Charles smiles and continues rowing towards another ship known as the Carpathia.
As they continue their departure in the life boat from the disaster of Titanic to Carpathia, night soon turns to day. As Rose awakes, she notices a tired Jack sitting up, struggling to keep his eyes open and keeping her warm. "Haven't you slept yet Jack? You look exhausted." she quietly asks. Startled at the sound of her voice, Jack's eyes widen, "Oh, You're up Rose. Did you sleep well? Are you warm? How are you feeling?" Jack asks her dodging her question. "Well, it is still a bit cold, but I will be fine" she says as her eyes veer off past Jack and towards another large ship. "Look Jack!" She says excited to be going to a warmer ship. She began to sit up on the bench inside the life boat as it rowed closer to the Carpathia. "We are going to get each of you passengers onto this boat through this hatch. In order to do this, we need you to climb on these ropes we will be of assistance if needed. You may start to guide these passengers to the ropes." Announces one of the crew members of the Carpathia.
As the life boat rows closer to the side of the Carpathia, Jack grabs Rose's hand and helps her onto the rope. "Jack?" she says panicking "Stay by me Jack, come up right after I go." she demands. "I will be up there Rose, you go first though." Jack encourages her. She makes her way up the rope, the crew members helping her as they are both still weak after spending most of their time in the freezing Atlantic. She makes her way up into the hatch and waits impatiently for Jack. "Ma'am, you can make your way to the deck with the rest of the Titanic passengers this way" Says a Carpathia crew member while grabbing her arm lightly. "No, I'm waiting for someone." She says while rudely snatching away. Jack rushes up and over to her "Rose! Are you okay?" Jack asks immediately. "Yes" she says relieved that they have reunited safely. "This way to the deck now" repeats the same crew member. With Jack now by her side they follow him to the deck.
A man walking around collecting passenger names, and drink preferences while handing out more blankets approaches them while they sit on the deck. "Can I get your name love?" He looks at Rose and asks. She looks over at Jack, happy that he is with her, and that they survived. She smiles, and looks back at the crew member, "Dawson." she froze for a moment. "Rose Dawson". Jack turns his attention to her and smiles a geeky smile. The Carpathia crew member writes her name down, and offers her a blanket that she kindly takes. "And you sir?" He now turns to Jack. "Jack Dawson" He happily tells the man. "Great. And will you two be having tea or coffee?" he asks. "Tea is fine" Jack and Rose both say at the same time. The man walks away and shortly after another one brings them their drinks. They sit in the corner of the crowded deck and drink their tea. They use the extra blanket provided by the crew men as a pillow and lay down to rest. Jack pulled Rose close to him and held her tight as if he were going to lose her. "I'm so glad we made it Jack" She says in a voice of relief from escaping the sunken Titanic. Jack pulls her closer as a sign of mutual feelings to what she just said and soon they both dazed off into sleep.*** A/N; Please recommend this story to your friends if you like it so far!
