Recap; "Jack... he was the first man to ever really see me. He really saw people. He truly did. But no other man has ever looked at me, spoke to me or treated me the way Jack has. It's always been about the money. Mom wanted me to get married so she could take it all. She only settled with Cal because she had a little crush on him herself. You know something else?" Rose said pettiness filling her voice. "I'm convinced that they were having an affair. He was also so nice to my mother, but he treated me like a slave." She added. "I just never knew real love existed. I thought I loved Cal because I was told I had to. I had to make myself believe it was true. He hit me so much, I'm not even sure he really loved me. I can't lose Jack because he and Leo are the only good things I've ever recieved in life and without him, I'm not sure what will happen to me next." Rose continued. "Wow Rose. I never knew. I'm sorry you had to go through all that. We should pray." Helga insisted. Everyone in the waiting room gathered by eachother and held hands. Helga kept one holding the baby. The room grew silent as they silently prayed. A creaking of the door could be heard and everyone looked over. The doctor had a sad look on his face. "I'm afraid I've got some bad news. . ." He said. . .

The doctor's face was pale. He looked over at Rose and Helga first. Then to Carlos's family. They all rushed over. "What is it!?" They all asked. "I'm afraid your friend only has 10 minutes left of his life, it's time you all went in and said your goodbye's and I love you's. He could use some people he knows for these last few moments." The doctor said. "Follow me." He added as everyone followed him to the hospital room. Once they got there, they all rushed inside. "Oh my goodness, this is terrible." Carlos's mother exclaimed as she rushed to the side of the hospital bed. His father and sister joined. "I cannot believe it." They said. "Not Carlos.. not Jack or Carlos. This should have never happened. When I see Cal again I swear it'll be the last time." Rose said in anger. "Let's all gather around and pray." Carlos's mother said. They all gathered around Carlos in bed, held hands and began praying. The 10 minutes began passing by quickly. They now only had 2 minutes left until he was to pass on. Sniffles could be heard through out the room. Each of them took turns going to him, hugging him and sharing their last words. When it came to under a minute, his parents joined by his side and held his hands. "It's okay to let go Carlos. We love you. Be with God now, son." His father said. His mother cried and kept kissing his forehead. "I love you, baby. It's going to be okay." She repeated. Everyone continued crying. Time was up and soon the flatline could be heard. Carlos was gone.
Everyone began exiting the room besides Carlos's family. They began making their way back to the waiting room. Before leaving, Rose approached a doctor. "Is Jack going to be okay?" She asked. "We were actually just coming to find you. He's awake and been asking for you now." He answered. Rose smiled before remembering Carlos was dead, then she began frowning again. "Can you show me to the room?" She asked. She turned back to Helga "can you watch Leo?" She asked. Helga nodded and Rose rushed off with the doctor. Once they reached Jack's room she practically pushed the doctor out of the way without even noticing it. "Jack!" She yelled. "Rose!" He muttered, his voice cracking. "Are you okay? I've been so worried." She asked. "I couldn't leave you alone with Leo, I just got my little family. I'm not going anywhere, sweetheart. Not even if you beg me too." He admitted. She carefully hugged him while tears streamed down her face. She remembered Carlos again but decided not to tell Jack yet due to his condition. "I'm tired, Rose. I think I'll take a nap, but i'm sure you haven't eaten yet, so please go do that. I'll be fine, hun." He said. Rose painted on a fake smile and kissed her new husband. She exited the room and returned to Helga. "Will you go to the cafeteria with me? I'm not hungry, but I also need to put something in my stomach." Rose said. "Of course, Rose. Come on." She answered as Rose took Leo and they made their way to the elevator. "Jack is going to be okay." Rose said. "That's great!" Helga answered. "I don't know how to tell him about Carlos." She admitted. "Let's worry about him getting out of the hospital first Rose. I'll even come stay with you for a bit if you need." She answered. "That'd be great Helga, thank you." She answered.
They got to the cafeteria and got some yogurt with nuts and fruit. They returned back up to the waiting room and sat down with Fabrizio. They ate their yogurt and waited patiently. A few hours passed and the doctor came out. "Rose?" He called. Rose rushed over. "Jack's wound is pretty serious. He's going to have to undergo surgery. We have to keep him here for a week. You should go home snd get some sleep. All of you should. It's getting late." He said. "May I see him once more?" Rose asked. "He'll be going into surgery in a half hour, so please make it quick." He answered. Rose rushed to his room while Helga offered to watch Leo. She walked inside. Jack was asleep. She walked over to him and kissed his cheek. "I love you. Be strong. Come home to us, please." She begged as a tear rolled down her cheek. She finished up and began walking out. On her way out she passed by Carlos's room who was still lying there deceased with a sheet over him. His parents sitting there, filling out papers and talking to all kinds of people. A frown formed on her face. "Goodbye, Carlos. I will miss you." She softly whispered and slowly walked out. . .
