As the couple continues walking down the street, Jack spotted a colorful sign on a building. "Hey Rose, look at this." Jack said. "Art contest! Whoever can sketch the best drawing of our big beautiful New York City can win a cash prize. Third place can win fifty dollars, second place can win one hundred, and first place can win three hundred dollars." Rose read while getting excited. "Jack, you're so talented, you should enter the contest!" Rose encouraged Jack. "You think so?" Jack teased with a smile. "We should go to a corner store so I can take a good look at any skyline photos they have of the city in the paper, get more information so I have more knowledge" Jack told Rose. Rose smiled and they quietly began walking again. The silence between them was comfortable since they were completely themselves with each other. No one ever brought this kind of Rose out the way that Jack did. Jack felt more alive than ever before when he was in the presence of Rose. Jack smiled to himself remembering the good memories aboard the Titanic. Finally, he broke the silence, "Come Josephine in my flying machine..." He starts. Rose smiles and looks and him and joins in, "Going up she goes, up she goes." They both continued with joy.

They began laughing harder than ever with the thoughts of the fun times they had before Titanic hit the ice berg. "You know Jack" Rose let out in between laughs, "I could make clothes, you know how hard it is for a woman to get a job. I could make clothes from home and sell them." Rose suggested. "That's a great idea Rose, I'll draw, you sew, I know we can make it as long as we have each other." Jack assured Rose. As they continued walking, they past a window which contained many posters within it. "Cheap apartments for rent!" Rose read one of the posters to herself. "Wait Jack! Look!" Rose said while pulling Jack over to the poster. "Apartment tours will be held along Fifth Avenue" Jack read. "Well, let's go Jack" Rose demanded smiling and rushing to find Fifth avenue. They see a man on a corner who looks as though he might be familiar with the area and they approach him. "Hello sir, do you know which way Fifth Avenue is by chance?" asked Jack. "Oh yes, sir. You're going to keep going straight up this road about two more blocks, then make a right, when you get to the next street, make a left up one more block, then a left and it should be right there!" The man said. "Thank you!" Jack and Rose both blurt out at the same time.

They begin walking past the man and up the street. Once they get to the second block, the make a right as directed to do so. They continue down this street until they get to the very next street and then they make a left and keep walking down that street. Once they get to the street they are supposed to be on, they look for the street sign. "Here it is Jack!" Rose said excited. Jack grabbed Rose's hand and crossed the street to make their way onto Fifth Avenue. They begin looking at all the apartments. "Which one do you like Rose?" Jack asked. "I like the white one, with the red door, and the white picket fence." She replied. They go up to this apartment and knock on the door to find a tour guide awaiting inside. "Hello, would you like a tour of the apartment?" The tour guide asked. "We'd actually like to know the price it is to live here?" Rose asked. "Well, by month it will be fifty dollars, but for gas that will add on an extra twenty, so you're looking at about seventy dollars a month" The tour guide responds. "This is also the cheapest house we have for rent, all of our other ones have a starting price of seventy and higher. This is our smallest, cheapest apartment, and many people have already turned it down." The tour guide added. "We'll take it!" Jack and Rose both said at the same time.

The tour guide grabbed some papers, and the key to the apartment. "If you could just fill this all out, the apartment is yours. Of course that is if you have one hundred and forty dollars on hand." The guide mentioned. Rose pulled out her money and Jack began filling out the paper work. "Here is the money." Rose said, while handing the money to the guide. "Here is the key, I hope you two like it here!" The guide said. After Jack finished signing the paper, the guide took it and left. "So, I'm thinking we can buy a temporary comforter blanket, plus one to cover up with, and two pillows for now. We also need to go buy food too." Rose added. "That sounds great, we can take another walk and stop at the shops along the way. Oh, by the way Rose, while I was filling out the paper work, I read that the kitchen area comes furnished with a fridge and a stove" Jack told her. Rose went into the kitchen to check, and Jack followed. "This is amazing Jack, I wonder why so many people turned down such a perfect little house. But I'm also grateful, because now we can start our life here." Rose said. "Before we leave, why don't we look around a bit further?" Rose suggested. "That's a good plan, Rose." Jack said.

First, the couple entered the living area of the apartment. It was kind of small, but it was the perfect size for them. In here, they planned to have a love seat sofa, with a small circular table in the middle of the room. Across from the love seat, they wanted to put two chairs, one for each of them right near the window so they can have a nice view of the outdoors. After leaving the living area, they enter one small sized room intended to be the sleeping area. This is where they planned to have their bed, but for now they would be getting a comforter due to their low money. After they leave that room, they enter the wash room. The apartment came with free running water so there was no expense in that. The wash room and the kitchen were about the same size but slightly smaller than the living area and sleeping area. The living area and sleeping area were also the same size as well, and they happened to be right next to each other, across from the wash room and kitchen. In the washroom, there was a tub, a toilet, a closet, which inside contained a wash board and a bucket, and a window, high up above the toilet. Outside of the window was two metal bars going straight out from the bottom, and around the bars was a plastic cord tight from one end to the other. This was a laundry line intended for drying wet clothes. As they continue to look around, they seem to be getting happier. They felt good about this and knew eventually, they would be very happy.
