So today in art we had a relief teacher and she was being a bitch and told us we are doing theory instead of working on our projects, I was sitting next to Anna who wasn’t really doing her work she was drawing in her book and the teacher didn’t care about us she was at the front probably watching a movie and not doing work. I looked at what Anna was drawing and it seemed to be a flower she was good at drawing I leaned over and I said
“You’re a good drawer”
“Thank you, you’re a pretty drawer yourself Irwin”
“You’ve never seen my drawings”
“I actually have, I’ve seen you draw at the back of your books so is drawing like your thing”
“Well kind of I mostly like to play the drums”
“Should show me one time”
“Well maybe you should come over one time” the bell soon rang and we all got up from our seats and walked out of the school. Walking home with Anna has kind of become a thing now and I like doing that
“So we never finished our little chat on Saturday night” I said
“Well why don’t we finish it now”
“Alright, what’s your favourite movie”?
“I think I like Mean girls oh and don’t tell Luke I told you this but that’s also his favourite movie as well whenever I watch it his always there saying all the words” I laughed at the thought of Luke watching mean girls
“Alright next question I always ask someone this no matter who they are what type of music are you into”?
“Any really I give anything a go”
“Do you listen to Green Day”? Anna seemed to go quiet from there and she shook her head
“No not anymore”
“Why not, what happened”? I asked curious but all she said was
“It’s complicated” Anna continued walking but I stopped and said
“Listen Anna I know your hiding something you always say it’s complicated you sound like your scared like his going to judge me or something like that but just to let you know I won’t and I never will I will always be here for you”
“Good to know” she said with a thank you smile. We stopped outside of my house and Anna said “I’ll see you tomorrow” I didn’t really want to say goodbye no one was home at the moment so I said
“Anna, why don’t you come inside and maybe I’ll show you my drums”
“I don’t know, I”
“Please” I said doing a puppy dog face
“Alright” we both walked inside and Anna was looking around the place like any normally human being would do “Nice place you’ve got is anyone home”?
“Mum doesn’t come home until 5 since she has to stay for Lauren’s netball practise and Harry waits as well” Anna walked over to where the family photos hung up and she crossed her arms she looked at me smiling and said
“You’re family are beautiful and look happy”
“Thank you”
“So where are these drums of yours?”
“Upstairs, come on I’ll show you” I ran upstairs with Anna following behind me, I opened my bedroom door and I stood to side letting Anna come in my room “Welcome to my room”
“It’s nice”
“And my drums are just in the corner”
“They look nice” Anna sat on the bed putting her bag down making herself at home “Show me what you got Irwin”
“Alright” I put my bag down walking over to my drums putting my headphones on and I picked up my sticks and I knew I had to yell since I couldn’t really hear “Pick a song you want me to do on my laptop” Anna walked over to my laptop and she picked out a song she picked teenage dirtbag I played the first verse and the chorus and I took my headphones off looking up at Anna she seemed impressed
“Not bad Irwin”
“Not bad I think that was pretty great”
“Well let me say you have talent”
“Thank you, now why don’t you have a turn”
“Uh I’m not sure”
“Come on it will be fun and I’ll teach you”
“Alright” Anna sat down on the stool and I handed her the sticks “So what do I do”?
“Alright so you basically gotta listen to the beat of the music so I’ll play a song and just listen to the beat of the drums”
“Okay” I played the song and she looked so confused and she was doing a terrible job she couldn’t help but laugh and I was laughing as well I paused the song and she took the headphones off and said “That was horrible wasn’t it”?
“Uh maybe yeah, here let me help you out” she got up and I sat on the stool and I patted my legs for her to sit on me
“Ash, I don’t think” before she finished I said
“Would you just trust me” she rolled her eyes sitting on my lap and I held her hand with the sticks still in her hand she seemed to pull away but I said “Anna, look at me” she looked at me and I said
“Just trust me” she nodded and I said “Alright ready so” I kept teaching Anna how to play the drums and she looked at me and said
“I’m getting the hang of this”
“Not really”
“Shut up” she said, I smiled at her staring into her brown eyes she was beautiful I looked at her lips wanting to kiss her. Anna was staring at me as well we both smiled at each other I put the piece of hair that fell behind her ears again and we were inches away from kissing.
“Ashton I” As soon as Anna heard my mum’s voice she jumped up knocking a symbol and Anna realised what could have happened “Oh sorry I’m I interrupting something”?
“Hi mum, no you’re not this is Anna she loves in the neighbourhood and goes to school” Mum couldn’t stop smiling she knew that I liked this girl
“Well it’s nice to meet you Anna”
“Nice to meet you too”
“Ashton, were having chicken for dinner would you like to join us Anna”?
“I would but I can’t, mum will be wondering where I am” Anna picked up her bag next my bed and before she left she said “It was nice to meet you and I’ll see you tomorrow at school Ashton” she soon left and mum watched her leave still standing at my door, once we heard the front door close mum looked at me and said
“Is she that girl you’ve got a thing for”
“Really mum”?
“Sorry but seriously she’s beautiful doesn’t say much but you seemed to be getting up to something”
“She’s Luke’s sister too I might add”
“So who cares date her I will be rooting for you guys”
“Mum just stop”
“Sorry, I’ll go make dinner”
“You do that” mum left the room shutting the door behind me I unplugged my headphones and pressed play leaving teenage dirtbag play, I fell back on my bed thinking what would have happened if Anna and I did end up kissing.
