Saturday rolled around faster than I was hoping. My alarm started blaring, so I turned it off and buried my head in my pillow. Groaning, I finally pulled myself out of bed and into my bathroom.
I looked in the mirror and cringed, because I had dry drool down the side of my face. After I washed my face, I walked into my bedroom and picked my outfit out for the day. It didn't take me long to get dressed and my makeup done, because I still had time to eat before leaving.
At 11:45, I left my house and drove over to the park. Sammy was already sitting at a bench near the entrance, I'm assuming it's so he could see when I got here. "Well someone decided to show up bright and early."
My voice seemed to shake him out of his thoughts, because he stood up and gave me a weak smile. His eyes looked red and puffy, like he'd been crying recently. I brushed it off and began walking with him beside me.
We stopped at a bench and sat down, but he wouldn't look me in the eye. "Okay, I get you were on time, but I still don't wanna be here all day. Talk or I'm out." He sighed and pulled his knee to his chest.
"Okay," he started, "I guarantee you're gonna hate me after this, but you need to know the truth...." Before he could continue, I held my hand up to him.
"Do I want to know?"
"Probably not. But I have to tell you," he mumbled. "So remember when we hung out for the weekend? Well before it happened, Danny made a bet with me. I foolishly accepted and I don't get why, because I actually like you. But we'll get there later.
"Anyways," he continued while rubbing the back of his neck, "after that weekend, he spent almost all of his time trying to get us apart, including hiring Destiny. So, when he bumped into you and talked to you at the party, that wasn't an accident."
He sighed and shook his head, as if he didn't want to go on. "And, um, when you caught me with that girl, she had forced herself on me. And that's no excuse I could've pushed her off of me, but I was drunk and weaker than normal."
I looked at him and saw his tear stained cheeks. Moving myself across the bench, I tried to hug him but he pushed me back. "I'm not done yet. So if you want to hug me after, then we'll talk. But him being there after you caught me wasn't an accident either.
"And that brings us to where we are now. You're dating Danny and I'm sitting here watching the girl of my dreams run wild with someone else." He put his face in his hands, while I sat there thinking.
"Sammy, what was the bet? I need to know," I insisted.
He didn't look at me, but instead mumbled into his hands. I was barely able to catch what he said, but I jumped off the bench when it had processed. "You guys made a bet to see who could steal my freaking virginity?! What the hell," I screamed.
By now, there were bystanders staring at us in horror. "I knew I shouldn't have trusted you guys. I swore I'd never date in high school, but I gave you a chance and this is what I get." Just then Danny ran to us, breathless.
"I swear whatever he told you was a lie. I'd never do that to you, baby," he soothed.
"Oh drop the act, I know it's true. Makes sense now as to why you did everything you did. Just, both of you, stay out of my life. Cause I'm five weeks I'm out of this hell hole and away from the both of you," I stated, before turning and strutting away.
There were multiple people I passed, whose mouth was gapping. I heard the boys behind me arguing, but I had no desire to turn back. The second I made it to my car, I put it in gear and drove to my house.
I closed my door and that's when reality hit me. I'd just lost the only two friends I had, because they wanted to be the first to "conquer" me. I fell to the floor crying and laid there for probably hours. When can this hell be over?
