"How about the baby pink one with sequins?"

"It's too short to wear in March without catching hypothermia", I answer.

"The black off the shoulder one?"

"That's a little too grand for tonight. And I wore that to homecoming last year with Tyler."

Meredith and I'd been sitting in my room for almost an hour trying to decide what I should wear on my upcoming date with Ross. Now it was almost six and I still hadn't decided on a dress.

I had a pretty wide selection of dresses thanks to me being the only child of my parents and my mom's shopaholic nature, but the majority of them I'd worn to dates and dances with Tyler already and I didn't want to wear them again, even if it was a waste of perfectly good, expensive dresses.

"What's this?" I ask, fingering a dress in the middle of the pile.

"I've never seen you wear it. It's a red velvet dress with diagonal black lace. It's pretty short actually. How do you wear it without flashing ev-"

"Get rid of it. Now", I whisper-shout at her.

"Why? What's wrong with it? It's a pretty dress", she says, confused.

"No that's the dress I wore on New Years' just get rid of it", I beg.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't know", she mumbles as she carries it out of the room.

"I'm never going to find something", I moan.

"Ooh what's this? It's still in the bag." I hear the rustling of tissue paper and a "Wow!"

"That's the dress I was supposed to wear for Winter Formal but Tyler had to leave for Aruba the day before so I ended up not going", I recall bitterly.

It was an ice blue dress with lace all over the bodice and thin off the shoulder lace sleeves. Tyler always said I looked the best in blue because it brought out my eyes.

"It's gorgeous. You should definitely wear this one", Mere decides. "You'll look like a goddess with this dress, your blonde hair and blue eyes."

"I don't know. I don't want to wear something associated with him", I ponder.

"So you're going to let a gorgeous dress never see the light of day just because Tyler's a jerk?" she asks pointedly.

"When you put it that way... I really did like that dress..." I trail off.

"Excellent. So it's decided. Hurry up and put it on and I'll find some silver jewelry that goes with it."

I do as told and in in another twenty minutes, I'm ready to go. My curly hair is pulled up in an updo because I didn't see the need in straightening it for a few hours. My makeup is pretty light too- just a little tinted moisturizer, eyeliner, mascara and lip gloss. Pretty much what I could manage blind and what Mere could manage watching Youtube tutorials.
