Detention? Are you serious, Nayeli?"
"I'm sorry daddy." Nash says over the phone, ignoring the look Zayn gave her.
Fuck, Zayn thought to himself greedily.
He loved it when Nash said the five letter D word.
"Sorry? You shouldn't have done it, dumbass." Mr. D'Martinez spat sarcastically, harshness laced in his tone.
"I love you too daddy. I'll be home by dinner. Bye." Nash says, looking down at the floor in attempt to calm herself and the sea of tears threatening to leave her eyes.
She knew exactly what would happen later.
"Phone please." Zayn said, hands open and waiting patiently.
"Do you have a search warrant?" She said with a smirk on her face.
She leaned against the desk behind her, eyes glued to the floor.
"Stop being a smartass."
"But then I'd have to change my whole personality." She pouts.
"Phone. Now." He barked, making her jump.
Her black iPhone onto the floor, landing perfectly on the screen.
Nayeli sang out an orchestra of profanities as she picked up her phone.
A single crack ran through the phone.
It was an old phone, and had many problems.
But she refused to leave it.
For in a way, it was like her.
Broken, damaged on the inside yet clear and strong-no cracks showing on the outside.
That was until Zayn came.
Now there was a crack on her iPhone screen, and a hollow feeling on her heart.
"Hey, are you okay?" Zayn asked, lovely displays of concern flashing in his eyes.
"Great." She smiles falsely.
"I know you're lying."
"How?"
"You're holding back tears, I can see it in your eyes." Zayn says, opening in his arms to hug her.
"I'm gonna be in so much trouble." Nash sobbed, remembering the last time she didn't please her father.
It was two weeks ago, when she broke Jake's car windows.
"He hits you?"
"Only when he's mad." Nash says, feeling stupid for showing Zayn vulnerability.
"That's not right, Nayeli."
"Nash..." she said lowly, "I like it when you call me Nash."
