"I never really asked how you were doing after the whole Jacob thing.."
"It's fine, I'm fine." She put on a grave face, sucking in a deep breath as she cuddled into Zayn's side.
They both knew their bond wasn't the usual teacher student bond, but that didn't really matter.
Nash had been hurt and it was now up to Zayn, morally, to make her better.
It was what a gentlemen would do.
"You're lying. I can tell."
"How?"
"You're breathing escalates." Zayn says, chin resting on her hair which smelled of vanilla and lavender.
"You're like my only friend..is that pathetic?"
"You have plenty of friends."
"Acquaintances. Not friends. Real friends stand by each other, right?"
"Oh no, I've been sucked into the empty, black horrors of the friendzone." He jokes, making her smile.
"Then what would you prefer, the creepy guidance counselor zone?"
The boyfriend zone, a voice inside him screamed.
"I don't like labels." He lied, "I think we should just be and that's it."
But they couldn't just "be" with the way their hearts were beating oh so fast.
