"Gray I'm talking to you it's rude not to-"
"Isnt that your teacher?"
Nash turns around in her chair, hard eyes softening once she saw Zayn sitting outside of the ice cream shop, tears in his eyes.
He was outside of a pretty, white suburban home with a suitcase.
Where is he going? Nash asked herself.
He looked so sad, it physically made Nash's heart ache.
"I'll be right back." Nash said without second thought, running out of the almost vacant ice cream parlor.
It was winter in New York City, and ice cream wasn't too popular during the season.
"Zayn are you- oh my gosh." Nash gasped, Zayn had a bruise on the left side of his face.
Tears were rolling out of his eyes.
Zayn crying was a truly heart wrecking scene to witness.
"What happened?" Nash cooed, opening her arms to hug him.
He rested in her arms, crying silently.
Grayson was now outside, in front of both Nash and Zayn.
What's going on? Grayson asked with his eyes.
Nash only shrugged, hugging her teacher tenderly.

"Zayn are you alright now?"
"You live..here?" Zayn asked, eyes wide as he stared at the guest house located three miles away from the main house.
"No, this is the guest house..and you're a guest so stay here I guess. Just..what happened?"
"My..Heather has an illness."
"And?" Nash's perfect eyebrows perked up, waiting for his response.
"She has brain cancer. It's not terrible but it makes her personality horrid. We were in the middle of..grown up stuff and I said someone else's name. She kicked and punched me then kicked me out." Zayn finished, leaving out a key detail in the story.
"I'm so sorry Z. Does she..hit you often?"
"I can't leave her..she's-she's dying. I know it sounds horrible but I..just..I can't. And her dad got me my citizenship so-"
"So what? She's abusing you Zayn." Nash says surprisingly calmly, icing his injury with ice.
They were so close, if she leaned in just a bit more they would kiss.
"But I can't leave her, Nash." Zayn says softly, cupping her face in his hands.
She put the ice down, staring back into his eyes.
She wanted to kiss him, so badly, but she couldn't.
He was taken.
That's what she kept telling herself when he leaned in.
