"Prom is so early this year.." Nash smiled, walking into the flowered entrance to the prom.
It was outside that year and decorated with many many flowers and lanterns.
The theme was to honor a student who died in a car accident, her name was Maddy and she loved both flowers and lanterns.
"I know, it's for the early graduates."
"I never got to tell you just how proud I am of you..you're amazing at everything you do."
"Not true," Jess said humbly.
"Very true. Now let's get the punch..I'm 110% sure it's spiked."
"Isn't that bad for the baby?"'
"Who said I was drinking, you're the one who needs to lighten up." Nash said with a pretty, radiant smile.
Mel and Grayson walked into the prom along with Stephanie and Jake.
They were both linked arm by arm.
"Lets go say hi." Nash said, grabbing Jesse's hand and pulling him towards her big brother and best friend.
They were sitting in a big round table, talking and laughing quietly amongst themselves.
"Helloooo brother from totally different parents. And hi best frandddd." Nash giggled, hugging Mel from the shoulders.
Mel looked absolutely beautiful in a black, long dress that was cut in half to form a two-piece.
"You're..here." Mel giggled, smiling at Nash and her pretty bump.
Nash wore a long satin dress that fit her like a glove, accenting her bump- a proud statement that she said didn't give a fuck about what anyone said and wasn't ashamed of the life growing within her.
"I know, she's due soon. You're gonna be there, right?"
"Of course." Mel smiled, "I am the god mother after all."
"She's getting baptized the 14th of July. Don't forget. Now, it's prom. What are you doing sitting down? Dance with me!" Nash said, pulling Mel onto the dance floor.
Jesse wasn't much of a dance so Nash didn't force him, and Grayson couldn't be in a tight space with too many people.
They danced along to the catchy songs and started dancing on each other when provocative songs came on.
After all, they were best friends.
"Wait I'll be back." Nash said quickly.
"But there's a slow song playing!" Mel pouted, wanting to continue their seemingly never ending dancing.
"I'll be back, I swear."
Nash disappeared into the sea of people, desperately searching for the only person she hadn't seen the entire night.
Nash wondered around aimlessly through the empty halls before stumbling across Zayn's office which was vacant.
Immediately, she called him.
Hoping this was a joke or that he was on vacation.
But it wasn't a joke, and he never answered.
"Hun what are you doing in here?" The old janitor asked.
"I was using the restroom and stopped by to say hi to Mr. Malik..do you know where he is?" Nash asked, biting her lip nervously.
"He quit a while ago, sweetheart."
Nash's smile falters as she nods and leaves the lifeless office filled with so many memories.
She went into the bathroom and cried until her phone rang, signaling it was time to go back.
"Hey Nash are you alright?" Jess asks once Nash comes out from the high school and enters the big garden behind it.
"Just a bit emotional..they put me on drugs for the pain of contractions." Nash explains, sitting down on his lap.
There was no where else to sit, all six seats were occupied by Grayson, Mel, Stephanie, Jake, Jesse, and, what soon would be, Luke.
"Nash are you okay you look a bit pale?" Jake asked, genuinely concerned for his pregnant ex girlfriend.
"I'm fine! Why is everyone asking if I'm okay when I've already said I'm fine!? Don't I look fine to you?" She snapped, angry tears streaming down her face as she stormed off.
She didn't mean to cause a scene, but Zayn abandoned her.
He blocked her from everything and she had no idea what to do next.
How could she ever live without him?
Because when a heart breaks, it doesn't break even.
There isn't just one crack; there's hundreds of pieces.
