Giving Up

Chapter 5 part 2

James drove the four of them back to Lillie's apartment around one in the morning. He had a few cars following him to get to the party. He didn't really like the idea of so many people being at Lillie's apartment, especially with the threats she had been receiving, but he knew that it would make Lillie happy, so he tried to put his worries aside. He barely drank at the bar, so he planned on having a few at the party. He had to help his giggling girlfriend up the stairs so she didn't fall and break her neck. He would have to watch her close because he didn't think she could handle much more alcohol.

Seth had met a guy at the bar and had been flirting all night. He invited the guy back to the party. When his guest arrived, Seth introduced him to his friends. "Brendan, this is my best girl, Lillie. If it weren't for her, I would have never talked to you tonight. She's the best. This is her amazing boyfriend James, and this cutie is Lillie's best friend Kay." They all shook his hand, and Lillie winked at Seth with approval.

Within an hour, the apartment was packed. There were people playing cards, some playing Lillie's PS3, and others just drinking and talking. James was afraid of how many people were going to be passed out on the floor in the morning, and prayed like hell that no one threw up on Lillie's carpet. He kicked back and enjoyed a few drinks himself. Lillie would occasionally sneak off to the kitchen where he would find her slurping the jello shots that Kay had made before they left for the bar. "Baby girl, I think you've had enough. Why don't I tuck you into bed? I will stay up to keep an eye on things." He took her by the hand and walked her to the bedroom. She stripped down to her underwear and climbed into the bed.

James went back to the party to make sure no one was getting into anything they shouldn't. He had a few more drinks while cleaning up after people. Lillie came out of the bedroom long enough to dart in the bathroom, and James caught a glimpse of her still naked. He rushed to grab her some pajamas and dress her in the bathroom before she decided to join the party naked. When he got to the bathroom, he had to hold back her hair while she got sick. When she thought she was done, he got her some water before helping her back into bed.

James went back out into the living room and played a round of cards with Seth, Brendan, and Kay. He finally let himself relax a little as people started to leave. After a few more hands of cards, everyone except Seth and Kay had left. Kay was going to pass out in the guest room, and since she knew that Seth was no harm to her, she allowed him to crawl in with her. James cleaned up the mess, tossing all the empty cans and bottles in the trash and putting away all the liquor bottles, so Lillie didn't have to the next day, and he went down the hall to join his angel in bed.

When James opened the door, his heart dropped into his chest. There was Lillie, completely naked, with another man. He couldn't contain his anger. "What the hell is going on here? Get the fuck off of her!" He threw his fist into the wall, and cut his knuckles. The guy quickly pulled up his pants and ran out before James had a chance to beat the crap out of him or see who he was. "Lillie, I trusted you. I know you're wasted but that is no excuse. I was right down the hall, if you wanted to get laid that badly you could have come to me, and I would have done anything you asked! Here I thought you were this sweet innocent girl, and it turns out you're just like the rest of them. YOU FUCKING WHORE!" He screamed at her and ran out, past Seth and Kay who had come to see what the commotion was all about.

Seth ran after James and caught him before he got into his car. "Dude, what the hell happened?" He was stunned. He never in a million years thought that he would ever hear James disrespect Lillie like that. "Why the fuck were you screaming at her like that? I have half a mind to knock your teeth out of your mouth for talking to her like that!"

James slammed his fist into his car door, leaving a dent. "She was having sex with someone else! I was in the other room and she was having sex with another man!" He dropped to his knees and started crying. He knew he was too drunk and too pissed off to drive, and his legs couldn't even hold him up. The emotions hit him hard and he just sat in the parking lot and cried. Seth sat with him for a couple minutes and then called him a cab. Seth was in shock because he didn't think Lillie would ever do such a thing. Alcohol really does have a bad effect on people.

Once Seth put James into the cab, he turned back towards the apartment. He didn't know what to say to Lillie. He loved her, but he hated what she had done. He knew that come morning, when the liquor wore off, she was going to regret what she had done, and it was going to eat her alive. Seth knew that Lillie loved James with her whole heart, and he was stunned that she would ever do anything that would shatter their relationship. He wanted to go inside and shake her by the shoulders and yell at her for ruining something so good.

Seth walked into the apartment to find Kay holding a still naked Lillie rocking her back and forth. "It's okay Lil, it will all be okay." Kay kept repeating the words to her. Kay knew deep down that it probably wasn't going to be okay for a while. Lillie was going to have a hard time getting over this. Seth sat down next to Kay and whispered closely to her ear. "What the hell happened?" But all Kay did was shrug; Lillie hadn't said anything except repeating "no" over and over again. Kay figured she was telling her that she knew it wasn't going to be okay.
