Chapter 8: Practice Time.

Review

We have just seen one of Kagome's mood swings, poor Inuyasha. They had thrown Kagome a surprise party, or baby shower. When they went home Kagome had a nightmare of a little boy that called her mommy.

(Kagome POV)

I had sweat all over my forehead and my face was flushed with tears. I realized that I wasnt in bed anymore. It felt like someone was rocking me back and forth. When I looked up it was Inuyasha.

He looked down on me worried, "You ok? I couldnt wake you up." I blinked at him and nodded.

He smiled slightly and layed me back down as he followed right next to me. I curled up besides him and fell asleep.

(3 more months passes by)

(Inuyasha POV, All this chapter)

Kagome was leaning against me, sleeping, at Kaede's house. Everyone was here. Kaede was passing around tea, then she started preparing dinner. That's when we all decided to talk about Kagome.

"Kagome is entering her 6th month. Ye have to start preparing for the delivery." Kaede said as she sat down across from all of us.

"Kaede's right, Inuyasha. Not only for the delivery though, that means you have to practice with kids, babies." Sango looked straight at me.

I smirked, "What are you talking about? I've had to deal with your kids the 3 years Kagome was gone." I tried to make her laugh, but I knew that she was serious. "Dont be stupid, Inuyasha. Kagome's gonna need your help. After the delivery, Kagome will be very weak. She'll probably be in bed for about a week."

I just gasped at that. What!? Will it really be that hard for her?...

Kaede saw me, "There's no need for ye to be alarmed, Inuyasha. It's natural for a women to be like this after child birth. Though Sango does have a point. Tomorrow I shall let Kagome doing the honor of playing with the kids of the village tomorrow, so that she can get her practice, and ye will come here. Tomorrow morning."

I gulped and said, "Wait, I cant leave Kagome alone. It's dangerous for her." Kaede shook her head, "Ye have nothing to worry about. We'll make sure that Kagome doesnt go to far that we cant see her."

I felt Kagome's head lift. She was beginning to wake up. She sat up straight and looked at everyone, "Oh hey you guys. Sorry I started feeling a bit tired." Kagome said a bit soft and weak. They all just smiled at her and Sango passed her some tea, "It's ok Kagome, besides you need your rest." We all agreed and nodded pur heads.

We kept on talking and we told Kagome everything. "So as far as it goes, Kagome ye will be talking care of the kids in the village, while Inuyasha will come here and practice some other things with us." Kaede put some emphasis on the "other". I gulped really hard. As the night went on Sango and Kaede wanted to feel Kagome's stomach. They all just smiled and laughed as Miroku sat next to me, "Must fell strange right?" I looked away from them and at him, "Huh, oh yeah. Its been six months and I still cant believe that Kagome and I are having a baby." Miroku put his arm around my shoulder, "I know,.....hang in there!" He teased me. I shoved him off.

Then Kaede started talking about the size of Kagome's stomach, "My My, child. Ye stomach is bigger then a normal 6 month pregnant women should be." Kagome looked down at her stomach as well as everyone. For some reason it didnt concern me like the rest, but I still asked just to make sure. "So what do you mean Kaede?" She looked up at us, "It means that Kagome may have the baby sooner then we expected. It could be that or...." she stopped. "Or what?" kagome said. Kaede shook her head, "Lets not jump to conclusions yet."

After the whole discussion I took Kagome home. We had to get up early to "train". She sat there as I stared to make a fire so that we could sleep warm. Kagome staring at her stomach, fidgeting a bit. "Hey is something wrong?" I looked back at her. She giggle, "The baby's acting up. Its just moving and slightly kicking." I stared at it. I wanted to put my hand over, but I was nervous.

Kagome must have noticed or something, cause she grabbed my hand and placed it over her stomach, "You feel that? Thats our baby, Inuyasha." She smiled as I blushed feeling the small kicks on my palm. It was a warm feeling. All I could do was feel happiness. Never had I've been more thankful that Kagome came back.

--morning--

I sat up and saw Kagome sleeping soundly. I didnt want to wake her up, but if I didnt I would get a hell of a talk. I poked her face. She moaned and opened her eyes, "Huh,......Inuyasha...." She started to sit up. I helped her. It was getting more harder for Kagome to do much with a huge stomach. She looked like she was ready to pop.

"So, when are we going?" Kagome yawned. I chuckled, "Wait, we still gotta eat something." Kagome nodded. I knew she was still half asleep, but she'll waken up eventually. "Hey Kagome, are you sure about playing with he kids?" She tied her hair, "Of course. The kids and I get along." Duh, the kids love to surround Kagome in the village when ever they saw her. Even when she had a tiny stomach, they would put a hand over.

We finished eating our breakfast and headed out. Once we got there a whole bunch of kids ran go Kagome. She smiled at them as some grabbed her hands, others layed a hand or two on her stomach, or they just stood around her laughing. Kagome laughed with them as they started pulling her up the meadows, "Lets go play Priestess Kagome." One of the little girls said as she holded on to Kagome's hand. "Ok, I'll see you later Inuyasha." She turned her head. I waved good bye and walked inside Kaede's house.

When I walked inside, there were different sections in the every corner of the hut. In one there was a makeshift bed and a huge bucket of boiling water. In the other was a baby's krib, the third one was a a cooking spot, and the last one was a changing tabble. "Uhh, whats going on?" Everyone looked up from what they were doing. "Ye are early. Has Kagome gone to play with the children?" I nodded, "Very well. Come here to our first station." I went to the first corner, the makeshift bed. When I sat at the side of the bed they explained everything, "Ye will sit on either side of the bed, which ever way Kagome is facing. Now kagome will be laying down here. This is the delivery station. Ye will need to support Kagome as much as you can. Sango, rin and I will be over here, where Kagome's legs are." After she explained the whole process we went on to the next.

"This one here is when the baby is cranky and doesn't want to stop crying." Shippo layed inside the bed and pretended to be a baby crying. "Now, ye will need to pick the baby up, but its different then picking up a 3 year old kid. You must put one hand under the baby's head and the other you will use to lift the body." I tried it on Shippo. I did stumble a little cause he was squirming a lot. I carried Shippo and did what Kaede directed me to do.

Third station. By this point I was kind of exhausted. "Ye will need to know how to cook baby food." She showed me what ingredients I needed and how long I was supposed to cook it. I made it over and over again till I got it perfect. There was no way I can fail now.

Finally the last station. "I for one think this is the hardest part when the baby's born." Sango pointed out. We practiced on Shippi again. First Sango showed me how to put on, change and what to do whe  putting or changing a diaper. Then we had to put some type of cream I guess on it. after that we put a blanket over it so that it doesnt get cold while we grab the clothes. Sango told me that I had to be gentle. She showed me how to put the tiny outfit on. And different forms of outfits.

It was already sundown bye this point. I plopped myself on the floor, "Man, if practice is this hard, I wonder how hard it'll be to do the real thing." I close my eyes for a bit. A minute didnt even pass by when one of the kids that was with Kagome came running in. Kaede looked up at him, "Whats wrong child?" The kid was trying to catch his breathe, "Please.....come.....hurry!! .....T-The....priestess needs help!"

When I heard priestess and help I jumped up, "What happened!?!" The kid looked up at Inuyasha, "She was starting to look pale, we told that maybe we should get back. She refused to and said she was fine. Then all of a sudden we saw her falling fowards. All of us caught her and gently laid her to her side." Kaede walked up to him, "What ye children did was good. Now Inuyasha, hurry and bring Kagome here." I nodded and ran outside to where Kagome was.
