Chapter 19: The Past is in The Past

(Kagome POV)

I walked through the long and dark tunnel as Shippo staid guard on my shoulder. My hand grasped on to my bow as a dim light appeared at the end of what seemed to be this never ending dark hallway.

We walked into a much larger room. I look around and gasped, seeing Akiro in a tiny crib. "Akiro!" I shrieked and ran over, reaching my arm out. Just as I was about to reach for him, I crashed into a barrier. "Ahhh!" Electric shots ran through my body as I was shot back.

I grunted and sat up. "Kagome! Are you alright!?" Shippo said and placed his hand on my lap. I nodded, "Yeah I'm fine.."

A sinister laugh was heard echoing throughout the room. I listened and gritted my teeth. Right besides Akiro appeared the same guy that kid napped him. "You've finally arrived.." He grinned evilly.

The wounds that Inuyasha had inflicted on him had disappeared. I stood up, "Who are you!? What do you want!?"

Rui towered over us and grinned, "Hehe...I am Rui of portals and I will open the portal of darkness to bring back the Sacred Jewel!!" I stared at him, my eyes wide from fear.

(Sango POV)

I grunted as another wave of power from Kohaku's weapon struck my hiraikotsu. "Who are you!? I know you're not my little brother Kohaku!" I yelled.

A bright light shimmered behind Kohaku. It was like a small portal against the wall. I smirked, "I knew you weren't real!" The fake Kohaku charged and swung his weapon.

I jumped back and sung my hiraikotsu at the tiny portal "Hiraikotsu!!" I yelled. The thing shattered and the illusion of Kohaku disappeared.

The moment he had been defeated a door way opened where the portal had been.

(Miroku POV)

I yelled and I gripped on to my arm. The demon energy pulsing as a strong gush of wind started to form. I fell back, Is....Is this really it? I can't stop it...

"Miroku!!!" I heard the familiar voice of the one I loved. I turned around and saw Sango run in.

"No! Stay back! Or you'll get sucked in!" I redirected my arm to face the opposite direction she was in. Sango stared at me before skimming the entire room.

"We need to destroy the portal! This is an illusion!" She yelled. I gasped and started looking around but we couldn't see anything. I panicked but immediately looked up.

"It's above us Sango!" She didn't hesitate and swung her hiraikotsu. I could feel the pain in my hand dim out.

Sango ran over, "Miroku! Are you okay?" She helped me up.

"I'm fine, don't worry about me. I'm guessing you were going through an illusion too." I looked over and examined her to make sure she didn't have any injuries.

"Yes, now let's go, there's no time to waist!" She said and ran back towards the hallway. I nodded and followed her down the hallway.

(Inuyasha POV)

I stayed on the floor as my arms protectively stayed wrapped around Kikyo.

"Inuyasha...let's get away from here...together. You want to be with me again right? Let's be together forever." Kikyo's soft voice whispered to me.

I opened my eyes a bit and I pulled back, "Kikyo...when you died...it left a huge tore in my heart. I didn't know if I could keep moving on , if I should keep living. It's like my whole world had no meaning. But...you see...Kagome saved me. She wanted me to live, to live a long and happy life. She taught me so many important things that the human side of me never knew existed. She made me accept both my demon and human side equally. She gave my life meaning again."

I pulled Kikyo back and looked at her face, "I still love you Kikyo, and Kagome knows that we had something. But you're not real. You died...and I want to give my life to Kagome. She need me right now and I need her."

Kikyo's eyes turned red as a portal grew big on her forehead. My eyes widened and I let her go. "I knew this wasn't real! How dare you use Kikyo's image against me!? She's in the past so I won't fall for a stupid trick like that!!" I yelled and swung my tessaiga and the demonic energy of the wind scar released and shattered the portal.

"Inuyasha!" I heard two voices scream in sync. I looked back and saw Sango and Miroku.

"Where's Kagome?" Sango asked, looking around the room.

"They separated us...but I'm getting her back." I glared and ran down the hallway. Behind me followed Sango and Miroku. Hang on Kagome! I'm coming to save you!
