Anger, it consumed the teen, running through his veins and clouding his thoughts. Tears burned against his cheeks, breath coming out laboured as he stood next to you, taking in your figure.
You looked broken, like a china doll that had been cracked so many times, one more hit would destroy it. You leaned against the cold brick wall of the building, huddled into your self. Your hair was matted in small clumps, cuts decorated your body and your clothes were torn and stained.
This was what you had become, a delusional ghost in the body of the woman he loved. He ran to you, crouching down in front of your body, hand stretched out in a sign of love and want. But you were scared, terrified that the man you trusted would hurt you, would leave you like he did before.
ALIE's high pitched voice echoed through your skull, a scream of attention that made your eyes dance in confusion and a small frown to appear onto your face.
"Y/N, it's me, Monty." The name sparked something within you, an unfamiliar warm feeling seeping into your bones. "Everything's okay, you're safe." His voice soothed you like a lullaby, and suddenly, his out stretched hand looked appealing, home.
You slowly placed your hand in his, skin against skin, dried blood mixing with new. He pulled you to him, grabbing you tightly as you let out a small sob.
You could still hear the harsh screams that ALIE was letting out, her hold on you becoming weaker and weaker, slipping as you fell into Monty's arms.
"Monty, come on, we need to leave before ALIE finds us again." Bellamy Blake came running around the corner, but suddenly he stops when Monty doesn't reply. He watches as the younger man's hand strokes through your hair, his lips uttering soothing words, his body cradling yours.
"You found her. Is she alright?" Monty looks up at this, turning gently to face the oldest Blake child. He nods slowly, but stops himself for a moment as he feels you go limp.
"She's fallen asleep." He sighs lightly, slipping out from under you, before picking you up and holding you tightly to him. Bellamy nodded, picking up the dropped gun that lay on the floor, before walking with Monty towards the outside.
Bellamy looked at Monty, noticing the love and concern that filled his friends eyes, as he gazed down at the exhausted girl in his arms. He also saw the flash of guilt that swept over the mans face, the small shaky sigh leaving his mouth.
"You feel guilty." Bellamy voiced the words that was in Monty's head, earning a small dry chuckle.
"Of course I feel guilty, how could I not?" Bellamy frowns as they near the waiting jeep, watching as Monty placed you in the back carefully.
"Because it wasn't your fault Monty. You couldn't have known this would happen. When Y/N left to-."
"Exactly, I let her leave when I knew she wouldn't be safe. And now she's barely even alive, she barely recognizes me because I didn't keep her safe, I didn't protect her." His voice drops suddenly, hearing the small cry that slipped from your lips, and before Bellamy could say another word, Monty was beside you in the jeep, pulling you into him and pressing his lips to your fore head as you slept fitfully.
"Well, think about this then. You love her, and you have to hold onto that. That means, you need to be there for her as she gets better. Don't think about how you failed her, because you haven't yet. But if you don't care for her, and love her now, you will fail her."
And with that, Bellamy Blake closed the door on the two of you. And all Monty could do was hum in your ear softly, pressing his lips to your feverish skin and holding you to him, as if you were to be gone if he stopped touching you.
And there you slept, in the arms of a man you could hardly remember, expect all you knew was that you felt safe, protected and loved.
