Normal POV

Joker awoke several hours later in a daze. Not knowing what time it was he sat up in bed and realized Bruce wasn't there so he left the room to find him. Walking into Lucy's room he found Bruce sitting on the floor with her as she was playing with Barbie dolls.

"She woke up really fussy and crying a little bit ago so I got up to take care of her and let you rest," Bruce said to Joker as he went to sit on the floor next to him, "I hope you slept well."

"I should be asking you that," Joker replied, "You're the one who's so busy all the time, you barely sleep or eat anymore."

"Yes, but I'm use to it."

At that moment Lucy threw a Barbie doll at Joker and yelled, "Pway Bawbie!"

Bruce giggled a little because Joker looked shocked not knowing how to respond. He had never played with toys with a child until having a kid.

"How the hell do you even play with a damn thing like this?... It's an overly sexually objectified lady made of plastic that doesn't do anything." Joker cringed.

"You might want to watch your language around a young lady, Joker, and you have to use your imagination like the innocence of a child." Bruce picked up the doll and started demonstrating his point.

"You're so much better at this parenting thing than me... How is that when you've never had a baby before?.." Joker became curious.

"I guess it's just something that comes naturally to me. I don't even have to think twice about it, I just have parental instincts. Everyone is different, you could be a great dad as she gets older and you're more use to everything." Bruce hands him the Barbie doll.

Joker attempts to play dolls with Lucy the way Bruce was a few minutes ago but failing. So Lucy took the Barbies and ran to her other toys.

"Dolls obviously aren't my strong point of being a father." Joker stated.

"I think Lucy could tell that." Bruce observed and smirked.

"Smart kid." Joker then got hit in the face with a big bouncy ball Lucy tossed at him.

"Don't throw things in someone's face. That's bad." Bruce sternly said to her.

"Sowwy... " Lucy looked down sadly.

Joker grabbed the ball trying to hold back his anger knowing Bruce would kill him if he did anything to hurt the child. Bruce assured Lucy everything was okay and to watch cartoons for a minute while him and Joker stepped out of the room to talk privately.

"Are you alright?.." Bruce felt the tension Joker was putting off.

"Batsy... No I'm not. I never get enough alone time with you anymore and being a dad is a full time job I don't know if I can commit to. I'm not some normal dad. Everything I have ever done in Gotham, to Gotham, the people of Gotham, anything was only to get you and your attention. Things are changing too much and I'm slipping more into madness. I hold back for you, so help me.." Joker confessed tired of holding back the steam.

Bruce hugged him, "I understand, I'm glad you're learning how to open up more. I know we need more alone time so if maybe there is a day soon Alfred is willing to take care of Lucy and I have time away from the Justice League I was hoping to plan a date with you."

Joker smiled and put his forehead against Bruce to look him in the eyes and planted a soft kiss on his lips.

They both desperately needed time away together.
