Chapter Twenty Four

Joker POV

The Joker drove to find where Bruce was since he convinced himself that he was being irrational and should see him. First he went back to Wayne manor to see if he was still home. Joker would be surprised if he was though seeing as how the minute he left Bruce would probably whisk himself back into his livelihood as Batman. He went inside through the Batcave, and Alfred was up in the kitchen cleaning. Joker had to be careful what he asked though since Alfred still didn't know him and Bruce were separated.

Joker walked up and tapped him on the shoulder to get his attention, "Hey!"

"Oh, Master Joker, is there something you need?" Al asked.

"I have been gone a couple nights and just got back home, is Bats still here or did he leave?" Joker replied.

"Master Bruce said he was going to the Hall of Justice not too long ago, he'll be back eventually but you know how he is. Where have you been anyway?" Alfred raised an eyebrow in suspicion.

"It doesn't matter where I have been, I just know that I need to see him so I'm not going to wait around here. He gave me a spare key once to get into the Hall of Justice when I needed him so I'll just use that." Joker said while practically racing out to leave.

He was mostly speeding down all roads thinking to himself that he hopes he can get there before Batman leaves.

Once he arrived he went around to the secret entrance to Batman's private office space that the key would work on. He got inside and saw that Batman wasn't in there. Joker started to worry that maybe he had left already to do something else, but then he thought maybe Batman might just be in a different part of the building. So Joker went ahead and left the office and went searching around hopefully without getting caught by any of the other member of the Justice League. If he was caught though he'd know how to handle himself.

At some point Joker started walking down a very long hallway saw a huge room at the end and decided to explore down there. Once he got closer and closer he could hear muffled voices of what sounded like Batman talking to someone else, but he couldn't make out what they were saying at all.

Joker eventually walked up to the room and stood in the doorway to find that Batman was kissing Superman.

In that moment seeing them Joker's heart dropped to an empty heavy feeling in his chest, tears rolling down his cheeks, not knowing exactly how to react rationally so just standing there frozen watching as his only one true love was locked in something passionate and intimate with someone besides him. Joker's sobs began to be heard across the room as Superman and Batman both looked over to find a heartbroken Joker staring at them with his now dead spirited eyes.

Within a split second Joker ran out not knowing what to do with himself after that.

Normal POV

Batman pushed Superman off a final time and started running after Joker.

Superman stopped him in his tracks, "So you were involved with the Joker!"

Batman swiftly turned around ready to defend himself from the comment, "Yes okay! I'm in love with him! I have been for so long now and yeah we might have a lot of problems and I've had plenty of doubt about being with him but he's the one person I would spend forever with! Now by taking advantage of me you screwed up probably any chance of reconciliation between us! So help me Clark Kent you better stay the fuck away from me!" After saying all that Batman left chasing after the Joker.

He ran outside and noticed it had began raining and it was picking up pretty heavily. Batman looked around and saw Joker off in the distance holding himself, shaking and crying, walking away blindly getting soaked.

Batman ran up to him and tried to stop him, "Joker please, let me explain!"

Joker shoved him aside angrily, "Don't touch me. Don't talk to me. Don't anything. I used my key to come see you and talk about things, this stupid key!" Joker threw it on the ground at Batman, "I knew we had a lot of issues but none of them compared to this heart shattering image of you with someone else! I thought I was the only man you ever loved! Was that just a lie? One of your many lies! I trusted you over and over again I trusted you, and then this is the icing on the cake to break my trust! So how long exactly have you been cheating on me with him? huh?!? Is this what was happening all those nights you were gone leaving me and MY daughter behind!?! Or is this something new? You just decided that since you don't have me on your back anymore you were ready to find someone new and move on within only TWO days! Fuck You Batman!"

"Joker you don't fully understand the situation!..." Batman tried pulling out an umbrella to cover them from the rain.

"I understand quite well!" Joker smacked the umbrella out of his hand, "For the first time in over ten years I wish I had Harley back instead of you!"

Him saying that hit a chord in Batman and he didn't know what to do. They just stood there in silence with nothing but the sound of rainfall behind them for a minute or two.

Joker looked up at him while crying again, "I wish I didn't love you, then I wouldn't hurt anymore... Even after this I still love you and I hate myself for loving you..."

Joker walked away and disappeared in the fog of the rain leaving Batman speechless and trembling in what had just happened...
