Batman POV
Batman walked up and stood next to Superman, "Clark, where's the rest of the team? You can't do all this work yourself."
"Bruce, you know very well when you are dealing with your own troubles that you also invest in being the hero. It's our job and our coping mechanism." Superman responded.
He knew Superman was still dealing with the loss of Lois Lane and Batman felt he should've been here for him more but chose to be with the Joker.
"Maybe we should call the team here. Then we can both get our minds off of things." The dark knight suggested.
"Usually I would be the one offering teamwork but now I happen to be the one preferring to be alone. Maybe it's good to have you here though." He replied.
"I suppose you can tell me anything. I understand loss all too well." He sighed.
"Actually," Superman got closer and stared him in the eyes, "I did a lot of digging around and found you've been in a relationship for over a decade, and I don't know with whom but I suspect the Joker which would explain a lot."
Batman got very wide eyed ready to defend himself against the accusation, "Yeah... I was in a relationship. But... Not with the Joker. Never with him. Have you lost your mind?" He had no idea what to say if Superman asked with who but he just couldn't bare to reveal he really was involved with Joker.
"Well... I know you've been dating a man." Superman prompted.
"How would you know that?..." Batman thought he covered his tracks so well over the years, what could he have done to let this information slip.
"I was speaking to Wonder Woman and she had told me that she felt she had known you were keeping something from everyone so when you didn't realize it she used her lasso of truth on you and asked you different questions, she said flirting really works on you and you said something about being very happy with HIM. Not her. Him. No, you never gave a name but we know you have been with a man for a long time." Superman admitted in confidence.
"How could she have even used that on me without me even noticing? I know that worked on Aquaman, but me?... " Batman could keep Joker a secret still but now he'll be labeled and ridiculed as gay which he didn't want, "It doesn't even matter, I'm not seeing the guy I was with anymore..."
"What happened?" Superman grew concerned.
"He just decided he wanted a 'break' from me and how could I blame him. I'm married to my job anyway." He crossed his arms.
"Bruce?..."
"Yeah?"
"Don't freak out, but maybe he just wasn't the man for you, maybe someone could be better who could possibly understand you..." Superman leaned in and kissed Batman softly on the lips.
Batman understandably pushed him off not knowing what was happening, "Clark?!?! What are you doing?!?! I don't like you that way..."
"Sshhh... Nothing else has to matter. Let's cope the loss of our loved ones through each other. I can understand you." Superman forced him into another long kiss using his super strength to keep Batman from pushing him away again even though he clearly did not want to be kissed at all.
Suddenly sobs and crying were heard from the far side of the room.
