THE SWORD AND SICKLE
PART TWO
CHAPTER TEN
REBIRTH
The talk show host Tom replied, "You are telling me that God is going to kill people. Isn't that against one of his commandments?"
"The Lord gives and the Lord takes away, Tom."
"That's all we have time for tonight. Is Dr. Santos a harbinger of death, or a certifiable nutcase? You be the judge! This is Tom Duvall, and goodnight from New York City. I will see you tomorrow night, or maybe not. I'm going home and getting my affairs in order. I think I will begin with Missy and work my way up to Madeline." The audience laughed and got up to leave. When they turned off the microphones, he said to Alicia. You are a real nutcase, woman. No one in the world is going to believe you, after those comments."
"I doubt it, Tom. Go home to your imaginary women. Tomorrow you will tape your show, but it will never air." That was the end of her media tour. Alicia opened the huge doors to her new home. She closed the door and headed to bed. The next evening at seven in the evening Alicia stomped her feet on the floor. The building shook violently, and a great bolt of lightning struck all around. The others began to tremble with fear. She said to them, "Don't worry, my spouses. This area is protected by the Lord." She looked out the window and exclaimed, "Glory be to the Lord almighty! Hallelu-Yah!" They all gathered at the window and saw a huge meteor shower. The evening sky was ablaze; as millions of fireballs plummeted to earth, and they could see meteors colliding overhead, as though they had encountered an invisible shield covering the compound.
Levi said, "It has begun, my wife."
"Yes, my husband. What are your thoughts?"
"It is time we visit the new family and introduce ourselves."
"What means of transportation should we use?"
"We will walk. We will enjoy sights of nature in its fury."
"What of the spies who wait for us at the entrance?"
"They are too worried about the events at hand to even see us."
"How long will your fury last, my husband?"
"Till midday tomorrow...this was merely a tremor, compared to what is to come. Soon, the New Madrid fault will shift with more violence than the world has ever witnessed. Towers will fall as far away as New York City. I will cause a mountain range to lift from Ohio to Arkansas. The waters of the Mississippi will no longer flow to the Gulf, creating a great inland sea. This is just the beginning of my wrath."
Iphigenia enjoyed meeting her new family. She found that her mother had chosen wisely. They were strong, beautiful, and wise. Their ages range from twelve to forty, and they were very happy to help bring in the End of Days. The honor was the supreme compliment for a Follower. Many had hoped to be chosen as one of the Fifty. As followers of the Voice, they were taught from the moment they joined to love, honor, and cherish one another, and physical fitness was the goal of all, for war was at hand. The elders strictly controlled the members' diet, and their lust for gluttony was erased. Finally, for the proselytized, life had meaning, guidance revealed their path, and they did not stray. Temptations to sin were eliminated for once on the narrow path, the distractions disappear, and their lust for carnal pleasure, eliminated by their lifestyle, and the Garden of Eden was restored. The cherubim no longer guard the entrance. Anyone who chose the path to its entrance had no toll. Yet, few found the path; few knew the way, and many remained suspicious of the cult. They pointed fingers, called them heretics, and suspected them of having wild orgies.
