Diamond's POV

Violette is having cornflakes and pancakes and a glass of pineapple juice for breakfast and I settle for omelette and a glass of orange juice. Mom had gone upstairs to change. She comes back down dressed in a striking grey pinstriped suit. Her blonde hair is held in a neat bun and her green eyes are holding their usual sparkle. My mom is beautiful.

I smile at her when she approaches the dining table. She drops a kiss on top of my head and reaches for an apple from the fruit basket. She's dropping Violette off at school so she quickly cleans her bowl and glass, pecks my mouth and follow mom.

"Remember to lock up honey", mom reminds me and I smile.

"Sure thing ma. And mom, I'll be helping out at the restaurant this weekend", I inform her and she smiles at me.

"That'd be wonderful. I could use the extra help. Bye honey".

"Bye mommy. I love you both", I shout after them.

"I love you too big sis", I hear Violette shout. I smile and hope she loves her birthday present from me.

Jessica had left after school since I didn't have to work at Henry's. I had retreated to the soccer field to design Violette's birthday card. My earphones were on and I'm listening to 'no lie'  by Sean Paul and Dua Lipa.

I hear a distant holler but I'm so much into what I'm doing, I don't pay attention. Then someone is pulling out my earphones. My head shoots up and my gaze lands itself into piercing grey ones just an inch from my face.

I swallow and my poor heart picks up its usual rhythm.his mint breath is brushing my lips and I feel an overwhelming urge to lean up and touch my lips to his. Sheesh.

"Hey friend", he says none too affected. Crap.

"Hey back", I breathe and look down at the card. He sits beside me on the grass carpeted floor.

"What you doing?", he inquires.

"Designing a birthday card for my sister, Violette".

"That's beautiful".

I smile and put the card inside my notebook.

"So, you wanted to talk about um...Monica and Raina?", I remind him and he chuckles.

"I think I did", he replies.

Ace tells me about his new bodyguards, Monica and Raina and how he has no idea why his father hired female teenagers. When I asked how his father picked them out, he shrugged and told me how overprotective his father would be and thanks to all the mafia business. He tells me a lot but leaves the part about he being a ruthless fighter, Trace.

My stomach does a double flip at the thought. There was definitely something up behind cool and fun Ace and somehow, it drew me in.

Did I want to be a part of whatever was behind Ace? It was a question that was yet to be answered by me. I sighed audibly and his gaze flew to mine.

"Are you alright?", he inquires in a soft tone.

I nod my answer and he brushes a stray braid from my face, and the feel of his skin against mine is very distracting.

Am I falling in love with him? Nah, couldn't be possible.

"Hey", he places his hand under my chin and forces my gaze to meet his.

I smile and tell it was time for me to go. He nods and helps me up.
