Chapter 24

Veronica Lodge's POV

     "Why did she say that you didn't want to see us?" Archie asked, while starting the car.

     "I have no idea but, I don't want to stay there tonight. Sleep over at Betty's?" I replied.

     "Yeah sure." Betty and Jughead said in unison.

     We all laugh and head to Pop's Diner. We've been going to Pop's together since we were in the first grade. Pop is like a dad to all of us, he gives really good advice too. He's one of the reasons Betty and I are still friends... in sixth grade, we got into a huge fight. But Pop didn't want to see our amazing friendship go to waste. He made us sit together and work out our differences. We ended up laughing it off anyway, and we still laugh at it today.

Even though we always have a good time at Pop's, I couldn't seem to laugh today. I'm still trying to figure why Mrs. Greene said I didn't want to see my best friends. After she was comforting me and making me feel better, she wouldn't even let me see the people who make me the happiest.

"What's wrong Ronnie?" Juggie asked.

"I still get over the fact Mrs. Greene didn't want me to see you guys. You guys make me so happy, and I thought she wanted me to be happy." I sighed.

"Forget about her, V. You ca stay with me for now. We can get your stuff tomorrow, just enjoy Pop's right now." Betty assured me.

I nod and take a sip of Archie's milkshake. Jughead puts his arm around Betty, and I put my arms around Archie's waist. Everything feels right in that moment. I just wish it could last forever. Well it could've, if blue and red flashing lights didn't appear. We all watched as police flooded the scene. They approached our table. It was Officer Bryans.

"I got a call, and it seems as though it was fraud. Is everything ok here?" He asked.

"Yeah of course. We come here all the time...why are you questioning us now?" I ask.

"A woman named Mrs. Greene called in to say that you were being forced to come with Archie, Betty, and Jughead. She wants you to return home immediately. "

" I never want to go back there. First she tries to lock me at home, not allowing my friends to see me. And all of a sudden they're criminals. I'm sorry but if I'm not mistaken, Betty has been my best friend since preschool. Archie is my boyfriend. And Jughead is like my brother. Yes of course they're trying to kidnap me."

"Miss. Lodge, I understand. We can go pick up your belongings now. Where are you staying?"

"With Betty, Archie, and Jughead. We're all staying at Betty's."

"Very well. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding Miss. Lodge."

I wave them on their way, and my smile turns to a scowl. I thought Mrs. Greene loved me. But she's trying to use me. Like I'm her maid, and she's not mine. I used to think she would be there for me whenever, but I guess she was just another bitch using my family for money, a place to stay, and for love. We loved her. We did everything for her. And she stabbed me in the back.

     "Ronnie, you ok? You look really mad..." Archie said, obviously nervous.

     "I want to go home right now." I stated.

     "Ok, let me pay and we can all go to Betty's." Archie reassures me.

     Archie payed the bill, and we all gathered into Archie's red convertible. Juggie offered to drive and Betty sat up front with him. Archie held me tightly in he back seat. I'm Veronica Lodge, why am I so scared. I could feel the tears stroll down my face, but I stayed quiet.

     We were right around the corner, just one more light to go. The light was green, and we were just seconds away from Betty's. All I remember was very bright lights.
