Edith kind of screamed and Sans stood up, looking at someone behind me. I shot up and almost tripped as I turned around, getting away from the voice that had sounded like it was beside me. Ink stood up and drew his over sized paint brush, glaring at Nightmare, who smiled at the panic that had taken over the room.
"Nightmare, leave, now!" Ink demanded, sounding beyond angry.
"You know what she does, Ink. Why are you trying to save her?" He was talking about me.
"I am right here!" I snapped.
"Frisk is not a bad person, and will not be! You are always there when she. . . When she does that! And I will not allow that path to follow out, not this time!" Ink swung at Nightmare, who dodged.
"Weren't we supposed to not attack them?" Sans asked as he summoned attacks, me backing up, side hugging the panicked Edith.
"This isn't the one we're worried about," Ink explained.
"Oh, this is the one you should be worried about." The skeleton grinned wider, summoning attacks too.
"Edith, go upstairs, and hide, right now," I told her in a low tone, focusing on Nightmare.
"Mom, I want to help. I know I ca--"
"Edith, I am not asking," I raised my voice for a moment, "Go, now. I will not allow you to get hurt."
"Oh, I'm not here to hurt anyone," Nightmare sounded before Edith could even try to run, "I'm here to leave a message, for you, Ink, and for you, Frisk."
I tensed a little bit before he continued, "I won't leave you alone until I get your powers. Both of your powers. And I am not alone in that. I will return. And you will not win this time. I will be the new god of this realm and all the other realms. You will fall from power, Ink. And I will rise from the ashes."
"You will never gain power!" Ink shouted, swiping his paint brush at Nightmare, who teleported away.
Ink growled and I relaxed a little bit, happy that he was out of the house. Sans asked Ink hostility, "What does he mean by any of that? What is he going to do, Ink?!"
"I don't know!" Ink snapped, "I don't know, but I need to protect a lot of people. Someone else is trying to hunt down Nightmare right now, and I need to protect you three as of now. He is targeting this timeline and I won't let him hurt anyone, not after what he's already done. He will not win, I promise."
"You can't make that promise," I spoke up, my tone warning, "You can't make that promise, no one can. You can't stop him either, not if you refuse to hurt him. I understand where you are coming from, Ink, but I also know when I have to shoot. And now is the time to load the gun."
Ink frowned at me for a moment, "He isn't bad, Frisk. He's just. . . He's hurt."
"We're all hurt, Ink! But he's hurt people! He's threatening this family, and based on what he said, many, many other people! I do not believe that someone like him can be helped!"
He had nothing to say to me, instead he left, teleporting out of the house. I sighed and walked over to the couch, looking out the window. I stood there for a few minutes before saying, "I will not let that happen."
"You won't let what happen?" Edith asked, walking up beside me to glance warily out the window.
"I won't let him hurt anyone. I won't let Error hurt anyone. I know the power I hold, and I am not afraid to use it. Not anymore."
"Frisk," Sans walked up on the other side of me, "Don't do something you'll regret."
"Oh, I'll make him regret ever hurting someone. I will never regret justice."
