I slowly open my eyes my eyes and try to clear my head. I try to remember what happened but my mind comes up blank? I remember going outside, but then something happened. Everything went black, but from what? There was something in the shadows, but what on earth was it?
Once I can see straight I look at my surroundings, hoping to figure out where the hell I am. The only light source in the room is a swinging light overhead, otherwise there's not much that I can visibly see. There's a door... but there doesn't seem to be a doorknob. As I focus on the door I start to hear a strange sound, kind of like humming. I didn't really hear it before because the light makes a horrible creaking noise as it swings, but it sounds like there's someone humming. Meaning I'm not alone here.

I try to move but I look down and see myself strapped to a chair, a few tubes running into my arm. I swallow hard before I look to my left and right to find that God awful humming. It sounds like it's coming from behind me.

I close my eyes and try to tune out the humming, but it's like it's embedded into my brain. The humming isn't horrible, it's actually the opposite. It's sickly sweet, like when someone sings a lullaby to calm someone down. I want to slam my hands against my head but I can't. I can't help but focus on the rune and I start to relax.

I feel the humming come closer to my ear until it's right behind me, where I could touch the person who is humming it. I start to feel one of the tubes that is running into my arm start to move. They put something into the tube and I see a blue-like liquid run through the tube and into my arm.

"It makes you feel groggy, but your conscious is still clear," A female voice says behind me.

The voice is gentle and loving like it belongs to someone I should trust, maybe even hug. But then I process what she just said.

"Why would it make me feel groggy?" I ask her. She is silent for a few moments before she replies.

"So the Master can have his way with you easier," she says a bit quieter.

Master? Then it hits me like a freight train; the demon that claimed that he was trying to help me by erasing my memories had told me that someone was after me. Could that someone be this Master?

Not even a second after thinking that I hear the door creak open, a doorknob appearing on the side that is facing me and a man with dark hair wearing attire that resembles Shadowhunter hunting gear steps into the room. But the gear that he is wearing is different from Shadowhunting gear but I can't place a finger on what is so different about it.

"Leave," the man orders the woman behind me.

I hear her quickly gather something up and leave through a door behind me. The man waits until the door fully shuts behind the woman before he starts to speak to me.

"It seems you have gotten your memory back, Ms. Fairchild... or at least what you were aloud to get back," he says, his back still towards me.

"What do you mean? Shouldn't I have gotten all of my memories back?" I ask him, a chill crawling up my spine.

"When your memories were originally taken away some of them were taken away and hid someplace where you wouldn't get them back when you got everything else back. Don't worry, they're still intact, but you don't have them. That damned demon that took them away in the first place hid them away somewhere. Sadly they are only memories that only you would have any recollection of, no one else was in the same time or place."

"I thought that demon worked for you?" I ask as more of a question.

He chuckles and turns towards me, "that boy mostly worked for himself. If he did work for someone we have no clue who it was."

"Who are you?" I ask as I try to fight against the straps that are holding me down.

"You'll find out in due time, but I've got a mission for you Clary," he tells me before he walks up to me.

"What do you want?" I stop struggling and spit into his face.

"You are the only one that can find the demon that took your memories. You thought all of your memories have returned; besides the ones that were hidden someplace else there's still more that haven't come back. Those memories are the ones that took place prior to the ones that are still hidden away." He explains.

"If I still don't have those memories, isn't there a good reason as to why I don't?" I question him.

"Possibly, or possibly not. Anyhow, you will be transported back to New York City, but not back at the Institute. You have twenty-four hours to find that demon and recover that memories that he still posses," He explains to me.

My head suddenly starts to throb with pain. I bite my cheek to not cry out. The man turns away from me.

"It seems to be working," he says loud enough for me to clearly hear.

"What's working?" I manage to get out through gritted teeth.

"The sleeping drug that was put into you right before I came in," he explains.

That woman earlier was putting a blue liquid, but I thought she said that I was only supposed to feel run down, not go to sleep.

"When you wake up, you are not to go back to the institute. If you run into anyone else from the institute you are not to tell them of your mission. You are not to go back to the institute with them, although you can receive their help with your mission. This is all that I can tell you, but good luck... you're going to need it." He tells me.

I try to fight against the drug but I succumb to it.

So this was chapter 9. Took me awhile, but I did it! I'm sorry again for not getting it written and up faster. I hope you enjoyed reading it. I'm not sure when I'll start up the next chapter nor when I'll get finished with it. But once more, I hope you liked it. This end note isn't a lot, but I'm not quite sure what else to say besides thank you for reading this chapter and I hope that you enjoyed it!
