"So what exactly happened back there?" I ask Jace once we're a safe enough distance from the flower shop.

"Well for one, she knew who I was and that I'm a Shadowhunter. Two, she knew that you were outside and she does blame you for her son missing. Three, she threatened me saying that if we harmed Will that she would come after us. Kind of strange hearing a threat from a mundane when they know you're a Shadowhunter. And..." Jace starts to explain, but cuts himself off at the last part.

"Was there something else?"

"Yeah, she..., when I asked her how long her son has been missing for she first said a month, and then almost immediately changed it to two. But hasn't he been missing for about three months or so?" Jace finishes his comment with a question, in which I give my answer in a nod.

"That's what I thought. I'm not sure how you could forget when you son went missing, and it also seemed like she didn't care that he was missing, nor that she wanted to find him. So perhaps we were both right: you on the fact that Will might've visited her a couple of times after he was turned, and I was right on the part that she didn't want to see her after he was turned into a demon... but it seems it took time to reach that one," Jace finishes his explanation, and ends with a sigh.

"But that was it, wasn't it? We don't have any more information about where he went than before we got there, only know we know that his mom might not care about his wellbeing anymore," I sigh along with Jace.

I look up and I see that it's got to be around 1 or 2 o'clock, since the sun isn't directly above us anymore. Which means that I'm seriously running out of time.

"Jace, there's not much time left," I whisper; I'm afraid of what's going to happen if I don't manage to find Will in time."

"I know, but I promise that I won't let anything happen to you this time. I wasn't there to protect the first time nor this last time, but I'm here now. And I'm not leaving your side until I know that you're not going to get hurt again. Just... can you promise me something?" Jace speaks to me, stuffing his hands back into his pockets.

"What is it?" I ask while grabbing his arm, trying to prove that I'm paying attention.

"If you ever wake up with amnesia again... just promise me that it's not from a demon that has to willingly give them back?" Jace says with a laugh, probably having a hard time believing that he actually told me that.

I laugh, "I could try, but what made you think that I planned on doing this?"

Jace's face turns red with embarrassment and looks away from me, trying to stifle a chuckle of his own.

"I just want you to be careful, alright? I want all of us to be careful. Sebastian and Valentine were one thing, I mean Sebastian kind of followed in his own father's footsteps. And we won, barely, but we won. But this was something that never happened before, and we never saw it coming. These... experiments as we're calling them, we didn't see it coming. And what's funny, is that we should've. After everything that happened with Valentine, Sebastian, and Lilith... we thought we were done with everything. But I guess that's been our downfall, hasn't it? We always think that we've stopped the biggest threat to mankind and everything else, but if we did... then why would there still be a need for Shadowhunters? I'm not meaning to philosophical but that's just where my thoughts have been going. But for now, I think we should go to the park and wait for Alec and Izzy, see if they come back with anything that can help us with where Will's at," Jace ends his verbal monologue, not like I didn't mind it of course.

"Yeah, that's a good idea," is all I can think to say to his speech. I'm not quite sure what else to say, because the more I think about it, the more I realize that he's actually right. But there's nothing we can do about all of that right now. Right now, I would really like to get the rest of my memories back and stop those experiments.
