Chapter 9: The Start of Something New

"And now looking in your eyes

I feel in my heart, I feel in my heart

The start of something new." -Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens.

Connor directed me to Starbucks and I pulled into the parking lot. I turned off my truck and we climbed out. "I've never actually been inside a Starbucks," I admitted as we started to walk up to the door.

He looked at me in mock surprise. "So, you've never had Starbucks?!" he asked in shock.

I shook my head sheepishly and he grabbed my hand, sending a wave of chills down my spine.

"Well, we have to fix that!" he exclaimed as he started to run, dragging me behind him, inside the restaurant.

He pulled me all the way up to the counter and smiled at the guy behind the counter. "Two Venti Peppermint Mochas, please, Ron," Connor ordered.

"Peppermint Mocha? That sounds more like it's a seasonal drink," I questioned.

"It is. But I'm a little exception. Well, me and my brothers," he said with a grin. After Ron took down Connor's name, Connor led me to a small booth for only two people and we sat down right across from each other.

We talked aimlessly about anything and everything. I ended up admitting that I knew that that the band he and his brothers have together is Before You Exit and that I also researched everything that I could when I got home from his house.

He made me blush and laugh, which I completely loved about him. Honestly.

"Two Venti Peppermint Mochas for Connor McDonough!" another employee called out. She had our drinks and receipt in her hand.

"That's us," Connor said with a wink at me as he stood up. I laughed again as he walked up to the employee and she handed him the drinks and receipt. He thanked her and turned back to me.

He set the drink down in front of me and waited. He stared at me intensely, waiting for me to drink it so he could see my reaction.

I giggled at him and took ahold of the cold cup in my hand. I brought the straw inbetween my lips and drank.

The peppermint flavor danced on my tongue, making my eyes widen in surprise. It was amazing!

"Wow! This is really good!" I exclaimed quietly, taking another sip.

"I thought you might like it," Connor laughed, finally taking a sip of his Peppermint Mocha.

"And what if you were wrong?" I countered, raising an eyebrow at him.

"When it comes to Starbucks, I'm never wrong," he smirked.

I laughed at him and took another sip of the Mocha.

We sat there, drinking our coffees, and continued our game of getting to know each other. I stealthily skipped past my disorders and talked about everything else about me.

When we finished our coffee, we threw away our cups and walked out of Starbucks. I immediately felt like a piece of me was gone after we left. I think I was falling in love. With Starbucks.

As we walked past the outside windows of Starbucks, I spotted a sign that read "Now Hiring!" and I made a mental note to come back to apply. That would be the perfect job.

"So, where to now?" I inquired.

"We can just drive around and whatnot," he suggested, thoughtful.
