Chapter 33: Unraveled
"Dreaming or awake, we perceive only events that have meaning to us." -Jane Roberts
After the concert, the boys had their open meet and greet and the girls and I waited off to the side.
One girl saw me and she got really excited. "Oh my gosh! It's really you! Can I get your autograph and a picture with you?" she fangirled, running up to me.
"Me?" I asked, surprised at this request.
"Yes! I absolutely admire you! You're so lucky to be friends with Before You Exit!" she exclaimed excitedly.
"O-Okay," I said with a small smile. We posed for a picture, which Rowan took for us, and then I signed her phone case for her.
She gave me another hug and said thank you to me about a million more times before she moved on her way, waving goodbye to me.
There were so many fans who seemed to like me, because as they meet the boys, they came running up to meet me and get pictures and autographs. Eventually, I had my own line forming, and Rowan and Kendra helped me handle the girls who wanted to meet me, and even the guys, too. Who am I kidding? The fans even wanted to meet Rowan and Kendra.
I started to feel more comfortable in the crowd of fans as I began to actually see how much support my relationship with Connor was receiving from his fans. I looked up at Connor at one point as I signed autographs, and all three of the brothers were watching their fans with smiles. Connor caught my gaze and mouthed, "I love you." I grinned and blew him a kiss, making the fans freak out over the little motion.
At the end of the meet and greet, the boys joined us girls and then they guided us to their dressing room backstage.
Well, Connor stopped in his tracks about five feet fromt the door and Riley and Toby took Kendra and Rowan to the dressing room. I sighed, knowing why Connor was doing this, and I looked down at my feet silently.
"Leilani? Please look at me." He spoke so softly that I almost didn't hear him. I couldn't make myself look up, and I bit my lip nervously. I released my hand from Connor's and I started playing with my fingers.
He reached out and took both of my hands in his, and lifted up my left hand, which as in his right hand, under my chin to lift up my head. I met his eyes and wished I could run and hide.
He had tears in his eyes. I have never seen Connor cry. Never in the two months now that I have known him. It shattered my heart. I bit onto my quivering lip, and reached up to wipe away his tears with the pad of my thumb. "Connor, please, don't cry," I whimpered.
"I'm sorry. I'm just hurting knowing that you are. I just want to help. I feel like you're pushing me away for a reason. Are...Are you going to break up with me?" he asked, even more tearful as he voiced his fears aloud.
My breath caught in my throat and I choked on my own saliva. "Of course not!" I protested. "Connor, I love you so freaking much. It's hard to even begin describing how in love I am with you. That's not why I've been acting so wierd lately," I added.
"Then what's going on? What happened that made you so jumpy these past two days?" he asked me.
I looked down again, and swallowed hard. My heart was racing in my chest.
I looked into his eyes, and then I told him about the dream. From start to finish, without leaving anything out. He remained silent the whole time, listening to me spill the biggest secret I had with him so far.
I was crying when I started to explain the part of my dream when I found my dead parents, and Connor reached out to catch my tears as they fell down my cheeks. His touch made me feel better as my speeding heart slowed down, and I finished telling the story. He took me swiftly into his arms and I cried heavily.
He stroked my hair in an attempt to calm me down, and, I must say, it was working quite well. I'm telling you, something about Connor made everything about my disorders disappear.
"I'm sorry that I didn't tell you earlier. I was trying to get over the fear I had that it would actually happen. I guess I drove myself to paranoia, and that really isn't healthy for me," I whispered to him when my sobbing fit ceased.
Connor reached out with his hand to catch my stray tears and he placed a passionate kiss on my lips. "It's okay. Leilani, I will never let anyone hurt you or your family. I promise. I will always protect you," he assured me.
"I love you, so much," I whispered as I cupped his cheeks in my hands.
"I love you, Leilani," he whispered back to me. He leaned down to plant another kiss on my lips. I moved my hands from his face to wrap them around his neck. His arms wrapped themselves around my waist and he lifted me slightly up off of the ground.
It was picture perfect.
When he put my feet back on the ground, he detached his lips from mine. "Let's go back inside with the others," he said, taking my hand in his.
Halfway to the door, he whispered, "You're right. Paranoia really doesn't suit you."
I laughed and nudged him playfully with my shoulder blade. It made him laugh, too, which released the tension left in the air, and then I reached for the doorknob.
When we stepped into the dressing room, the others looked up at us curiously. "Is everything okay?" Rowan asked from her spot on the couch, cuddling with Riley.
"Yeah. Everything is great," I answered honestly with a smile up at Connor.
Connor looked down at me, smiling, too, and placed a soft kiss in my hair.
~~~
So, this is all that's gonna be in this chapter, because I cannot think of anything else to write. This was more of just Connor's reaction to why Leilani was acting so wierd and everything. Wasn't it just soo sweet?! <3
