Chapter 37: What's Going To Happen To Us?

"Where misunderstanding serves others as an advantage, one is helpless to make oneself understood." -Lionel Trilling

Connor

"Why isn't she answering me?!" I exclaimed frustratingly as the phone call went to voicemail for the tenth time in the last hour.

"What's going on, Connor?" I heard my middle brother ask me worriedly.

"Leilani isn't answering any of my texts or my phone calls," I answered him gruffly.

"Is she okay?" Riley asked.

"I don't know because she isn't answering me," I groaned. I tried calling her again but it went to voicemail again. I felt like cursing but, instead, I let out a frustrated groan. I know she's not answering me because she saw that boogas picture and I know she's hurting because she think I cheated on her, but I needed her to know that it was a total misunderstanding.

Like some fans request, that same girl asked me if we could pose with one kissing the other's cheek in our picture. So, I agreed. But we couldn't decide who would do it, so, I said I would, but she didn't hear me, because we went to kiss the other's cheek at the same time and lip locked. We immediately stopped and she apologized a million times, saying she didn't mean it and that she didn't want to ruin my relationship with Leilani. She took her phone from her friend and deleted the picture immediately in front of me and we took a different selfie. I followed her because she felt so bad about the misunderstanding.

But, suddenly, the picture was circling Twitter. I DM'ed her and asked how that was possible. She told me that her 'so-called friend', as she said, sent the picture to herself before giving the phone back and then posted it on Twitter for Leilani to see. This fan was so broken up about this but I assured her it wasn't her fault.

Now, a lot of the fans were taking this picture and using it as a way to insult Leilani.

I knew she saw it. Something was telling me so, and now that she was ignoring me, I knew for a fact that she did.

I tried calling her again, but still nothing. I groaned again and ran my hands through my hair as I felt tears forming in my eyes. "Dang it!" I screamed, throwing my phone on the couch.

"Hey! Connor, calm down. I'm sure she's fine. Relax," Riley said as he tried to reach out to me.

I whipped around and snapped, "No, she's not fine, Riley! She's not answering me because she thinks I cheated on her and she's hurting! I cannot relax because I cannot explain to her what happened!"

"Connor, seriously, take a deep breath," my brother warned me. The dressing room door opened and Toby, Ryan, and Thomas came in.

"What's going on?" Toby asked worriedly, seeing the tension between his older brothers.

"Nothing," I snapped. My baby brother flinched away at my sudden outburst. I have never yelled at my brothers like this before but I was too frustrated and mad at myself to think rationally.

"Connor, dude, seriously, what's wrong?" Thomas asked me.

I let out a frustrated groan and turned my back to everyone. I pulled at my hair and eyed my phone, which rested on the couch.

I could feel the wetness run down my face as I just watched my phone, hoping for it to ring and it be Leilani wanting to know what happened.

But it never rang.

"Connor?" Thomas asked.

"What's going to happen?" I whispered painfully.

"What do you mean?" Thomas asked.
