Chapter 31: Counting Down Time

"Sometimes, we're all too quick to count down the days, that we forget to make the days count." -Unknown

Mark and Joan invited me and the girls to stay for dinner that night, so I had texted my parents to let them know that I was staying late, and not to wait up for me. I told them that I would have Connor walk me home.

I sat next to Connor, and then Toby sat next to me again, with Kendra seated in front of him. Rowan sat next to Kendra and Riley sat next to her.

Joan had made a wonderful, yet simple, spaghetti dish and we had salad as a side. She also made garlic bread.

We sat around the table, talking about everyone's day, and how practice went. We all knew it was a heavy subject, but we talked a little bit about the tour. The first show, they found out today, was actually in Orlando, at the House of Blues, and the boys were trying to get us tickets.

After dinner, we moved back down to the basement and had a movie night. The first movie we watched was Mrs. Doubtfire. Best Robin Williams movie, ever. Robin Williams is my idol. He is literally the best actor/comedian there is, besides Jim Carrey.

I curled up with Connor on the couch. I kicked my legs over his, wrapped my arm around his stomach, and laid my head into the crook of his neck. He wrapped one arm around my back and across my waist, and drapped his other arm across my legs. I felt his lips in my hair and I smiled. It's amazing how fast he can get my heart racing with the simplest touches. I catch myself falling all the time, every second of every day.

The movie started and we all settled down. Rowan and Riley were cuddling together, too, and I could tell Toby wanted to pull Kendra into his arms, but he sat beside her instead, fumbling with his fingers. Poor Toby. He was so crazy about her and he had no idea what to do.

I looked up at Connor and saw him watching his brother, too. He had a look of sympathy for his baby brother. "Connor, you have to talk to him," I whispered up my blue eyed and blonde haired boyfriend.

"Trust me, I'm going to. I'm going to have a sit down with him in the morning," Connor whispered back.

I grinned and reached up to kiss his cheek. He's such an amazing older brother. I'm glad that Riley and Toby (especially Toby) have him to look up to. Whenever I would watch their videos, covers mostly, I always admire the way that Riley and Connor watch Toby sing with pride. I can tell that they're super proud of how much Toby has grown and matured. I know I am.

We remained silent for the rest of the movie and then, when it was over, I stood up and made my way to the movie collection they had. I skimmed through the titles until I came across one I really liked. G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra. I replaced Mrs. Doubtfire with G. I. Joe and joined Connor on the couch again. I laid the same way I was before and played the movie.

After that movie was over, I checked the time. It was already ten o'clock. "I should get home," I said, sitting up from Connor's embrace. I stood up from the couch and Connor stood up with me.

"I'll walk you across the street," he said, taking my hand in his with a light smile.

I said goodbye to his brothers and Kendra and Rowan before Connor and I walked back upstairs into the main house. We found his parents in the living room and I said my goodbyes. I gave them hugs and promised to be back in the morning to hang out with them.

Connor and I walked out of the front door and we latched hands immediately. It was chilly in the July air and a breeze swept by, making the goosebumps rise on my arms. I shivered and pushed myself closer into Connor's warm embrace.
