Chapter one- let's go party and not get drunk
M I L L I E

Maddie looked at me in confusion as I slumped into her car. "Did you even brush your hair this morning?" She asked as she pulled out of my drive way.

I shrugged as I pulled the mini mirror down. "I guess not." I said as I picked up Maddie's hair brush. I wince as I brush through my hair, getting stuck on a knot.

"Millie," Maddie paused as she smelt the air. "Do you smell that?" Immediately, I knew it what she was talking about. There was a strong smell of alcohol present, making my head hurt more then it already was.

"Yep," I said popping the p, "it's coming from me."

"Millie!" Maddie half screamed causing me to flinch. "I cannot believe you." I shrugged as I look out the window, watching the road as Maddie turned the car.

"Why?" She simply asked as she drove us to her house. I let out a sigh as I thought back to last night.

"They were there," I said softly as I shut my eyes. "They were there together, dancing, laughing, having a good time. I then couldn't take it so I  had a little to much to drink."

I could hear Maddie's tone soften as she tried to make me feel better. Although I knew it wouldn't help. I tried blinking away my tears, not wanting to start anything.

Ever since the Snowball, just seeing Finn brings back too many painful memories along with Sadie. Seeing them together as a couple is even harder.

They got together after school ended, letting me run into them at almost every party. This almost always resulted in me getting drunk out of my mind, with either Maddie or Rowen having to care of me.

"We're here." Maddie said as she turned off the car. I looked up and noticed that we were not at the school but at Maddie's house.

"I'll call the school." She said with a small sigh. I nodded my head as I grabbed my poorly packed backpack and made my way into her house.

"I'll take those," Maddie said as she took my dirty clothes from me. I went over and sat at her vanity to brush my freshly washed hair.

I sighed as I looked at myself in her mirror. I looked exhausted like I have not slept in days.

"Here," Maddie said as she flopped onto her bed. I made my way over to her bed and took one of the tubs of ice cream out of her hands.

"Why do you do this to yourself?" Maddie asked as she took scoop of her ice cream. I looked up and shrugged.

"Because I miss him and hate her." I simply replied before shovelling another scoop of vanilla ice cream into my mouth.

I thought it was pretty clear on why I always get myself drunk. I broke up with the boy I loved and I lost a friendship with a girl that I've known forever.

"You know what you need?" Maddie smirked as she put her ice cream tub down. "You need to get your mind off of him and focus on something else."

I rose an eyebrow before directing my gaze back to my ice cream. "How so?"

"Okay," Maddie started as she clapped her hands together. "Let's go to a party tonight- not to get drunk- and find you someone to take your mind off of." She smiles.

"I don't know Madds-"

"Come on!" She whines, cutting me off. "It will be fun, I promise." I let out a sigh along with an eye roll. I guess I wasn't going to be able to get out of this one.

"Plus after the party, you can stay at my place. My parents won't be home until Friday." She added with a hopeful smile. I decided to stop resisting and just go along with Maddie's plan. I mean, what's the worst that can happen? It's not like my boyfriend can cheat on me with my best friend.

"Fine."

"You ready?" Maddie asks from outside the bathroom door. I sigh before doing one last look in the mirror and walking into the hall.

"Perfect!" Maddie claps. I give her a smile as I walk to her room to grab a pair of heels that match my black tight crop top and brown leather skirt.

"Well let's get going then." I say as I give Maddie a smile. She happily starts to swing her car keys around her index finger as she leads the way to her car. I jump into her car while pulling down her mirror to check my makeup.

"Okay, the first thing your going to do is forget about the couple of who-must-not-be-named." She said as she focused on the dark road. "Then your going to have a good time."

I flashed her a thankful smile before turning my view out the window. I could see that we were getting closer to the party since the street we turned on had cars parked on the street.

"We are here." Maddie says as she shuts off the engine. I flash her a small smile before confidently walking into the blaring house full of many drunk teenagers.

As I walk in, the smell of alcohol fills my nose. I turn to see Maddie give me a look before mouthing, "don't get drunk."

I gave her a reassuring smile and nod before turning back to the living room where some drunk teens were. I started to sway my hips from side to side, earning some stares from the boys.

A genuine smile was plastered onto my face as I started to forget about all my worries. Maybe, just maybe, I can finally forget about them and move on even if I'm

heartbroken.
