Chapter five- running late with no sense of fashion

"Millie for the last time, wake up!"My eyes quickly shot open as my mother opened my blinds, letting in the rays of the bright sun. I quickly pulled my warm blanket over my head, only to have it ripped off of me.
"This is the last time I'm ever waking you up." My mother huffed as she walk out of my room. I let out a sigh as I looked up to my ceiling.
Why does school start so early?
After a few minutes of just staring at my white ceiling, I decided to flipped on to my stomach and check my phone.
I turned it on, prepared for it to be only seven thirty. To my surprise it wasn't.
Ten thirty two, my phone read. "Great." I sarcastically chuckled. Great.
I tiredly sat up before the realization kicked in: I was late for school. My eyes wondered my room as I bolted up and made my way over to my bathroom.
My hair looked a mess along with the makeup I forgot to take off. I rolled my eyes as I stared to wash away the old foundation and eyeshadow.
"Mom!" I yelled as I ran down my carpeted stairs almost tripping. "Why didn't you wake me up sooner? I'm going to be late!" All I earned was an eye roll and a scuff.
"Maybe if you actually woke up the first time, we wouldn't be having this problem, would we?" She asked as she rose her eyebrows. Now it was my turn to roll my eyes.
I looked through our fridge, searching for something to eat. But of course like usual, nothing looks pleasing.
I shut the fridge loudly as I grabbed an apple and made my way back upstairs.
I ran into my room as I took a bite of my apple, looking for something decent to wear. I threw open all my drawers and closet doors, making my room look messier then it already did. I rummaged through my closet knocking almost everything off its hangers.
By the time I made my way through my entire closet, pretty much all my clothing was scattered on the floor. I picked up various pairs of dresses and skirts- none of which that looked clean- leaving me to one of my old band shirts. No caring, I quickly threw it on as i took off my pyjamas.
I ran over to my messy drawers and grabbed a pair of black leggings that thankfully matched my outfit.
I bolted across my room to where my vanity was located. I quickly rubbed some concealer under my eyes then brushed some pink blush onto my cheeks. I horribly applied some mascara, making my eyes water as I felt the wand hit my eye.
I got up as soon as the tears went away, I got up and threw a brush in my hair making me cringed. I looked horrible but there was no time to care. I looked as if I haven't sleep all night after going to one of Maddie's party's and getting drunk. Sadly this wasn't uncommon.
I ran over to my desk where all my homework papers were scattered. I groaned as I shovelled them into my backpack rather violently. After I zipped up my bag, I ran back over to my closet and grabbed my old convers. I slipped them on not bothering to tie them.
As I ran over to my bedside table, the same words in my mother's voice kept repeating in my head.
"You will trip and fall if you leave your shoes untied."
I couldn't ignore them making me roll my eyes. I jumped into my bed, double knotting each of my shoes.
I looked in my mirror one last time, frowning at myself.
I ran out of my room, grabbing my light grey sweatshirt on the way out. I made my way down my stairs as I started to tie my hair in a bun, failing miserably. "Mom, I'm off!" I yelled as I grabbed my car keys.
I got no response, making me frown as I realized my mother had already left.
I locked the front door on my way out, praying to God all the other doors were locked.
I eagerly climbed into the drivers seat as I started my car. I quickly pulled out of my drive making me almost hit a squirrel.
As I made my way down the street, I actually thought that I was going to make it to my second period class on time. But like always, nothing ever goes the way I plan it to. I hit my brakes and turned my car around as I realized I had forgotten something: my backpack.
How did I forget my backpack? I'm going to school for goodness sakes!
As I parked my car in front of my house, I jumped out and quickly ran back to the locked house. I fiddled with my keys, trying to remember which key was used for the front door and which one was used for the back.
After a couple of minutes of fiddling with the lock, I ran into my house leaving the front door wide open.
I ran over to my desk- tripping on my clothing that laid on the ground- and snatched my backpack. I quickly turned back to my bedroom door.
On my way down my stairs, I let out a sigh.
I'm so getting detention.
