Jolene had to escape, the huge dragons were diving on her. A harpoon was fired from one of the dragons pursuing her. Blue took the harpoon in the wing spiraling down and down. Jolene was now lying on the ground when a tall raven haired woman in black shouted, "There can only be one queen!" Then brought a heavy club down breaking Jolene's leg crushing her knee. The pain was tremendous, greater than anything she had ever experienced. The raven haired queen lifted the club to strike again and Jolene screamed, thrashing and fighting with all her strength.
"Jody...Jody...I have you sweetheart. I'm here with you."
"Eddie," Jolene sobbed. He held her tight and kissed her forehead.
"You're OK, it was just that dream again."
"Did I give you another black eye?" Jolene sobbed looking into his face.
"You are quite strong for a half pint."
"I'm so sorry! Did I wake the kids?"
"They would sleep through an earthquake," Edward teased.
"I was terrified. I'm going to die Eddie. I know it in my soul."
"Jo, you are more powerful than you can even imagine."
"I fully expect to win, but the cost will surely be my life. Will you raise our children and not let them forget me?"
"I will raise them, you and me together Jo. I will never abandon them. They are a part of us, I love them."
"I chose well when I picked you to marry," Jolene whispered.
"And all this time I thought I chose you. Try to sleep, I will hold you." Jolene nodded and soon found sleep in Edward's arms.
Gabby and Ana walked into the kitchen wearing only towels. "Where's Cookie?" Gabby asked.
"Her given name is Gwen, and you need to be dressed?"
"Where's Mom?" Ana asked.
"Sleeping in, I'm making breakfast, Gwen has a sick family member and she left for Riverton."
"You only put out three plates," Ana persisted.
"I'm serving Jo in bed, get some clothes on and come to the table." They left for their room and Edward turned his attention to the meal preparation. He was about to flip a hot cake when someone covered his eyes and blew in his ear.
"Guess who?
"That's a hard question...Wolfy?"
"Not even close Mr." Edward turned and embraced Jolene and kissed her.
"I was going to bring your breakfast to you in bed." He smiled at her and started to untie the belt holding her tiger striped robe closed. He had just slipped his hands under the robe when they heard the girls approaching. Jolene laughed and lightly slapped his hand.
"You're incorrigible, did you know that, we almost got caught," she giggled then whispered smiling at him and closing the robe. "I was hoping to get a shower in but we seem to be out of hot water."
"We'll have more after breakfast, I'll scrub your back," he gave her cheek a quick kiss and turned to continue with the hot cakes. "The next two hotcakes are really dark."
"You're the only one who likes your food burnt!" Gabby said.
They all sat together and Edward served hot cakes, scrambled eggs and black pudding. He also poured hot coco and had strawberry preserves for the hot cakes. "I'm so starving!" Gabby said.
